I find it quite funny how in the bible, the ocean is considered evil yet is still related back to being the greatest gift by God... Also, the song Daedalus, is about the Greek myth of Eraclus (bad spelling) And Dustin States "Gods" meaning the Greek Gods. Now, tell me, why every single song made by Thrice has to be relatred to God? I'm not trying to insult anyone, but I get quite anoyed with people saying: "THIS SONG IS ABOUT GOD!" Can you not say: "I BELIEVE this song is about God"? I know songs such as Weight of Glory and Like moths to flame have very strong reverance to the Bible, that I can except as Dustin sharing his beliefs through music, but just because he writes something that isnt taken literaly (especially in this album) doesnt mean it has to be Christ, it could be Zeus after all. Man this song always sends shivers down my spine!!!! i love it!!!!! I think this song can be refered back to post 9/11 (though im not American or live anywhere near the U.S) and the war in Iraq, it does make alot of sense. But it could also be about the Albigensian crusade where thousands of Cathars (non-catholics) had a different view on Christ so got burned as heretics, even though alot of Catholics still thought it was mindless killing. Not to mention plenty of Catholics got burned as well coz "God will know his own" as said by a Catholic general. |

I really think some people look far to deep in to alot of Thrice songs, yes on this album there are a few biblical refrances and even a song thats clearly about a person in the bible, but i really think some people go over the top and see things that just arent there. I think the song gives a pretty clear indication that its about over a period of time, your broken heart heals and you share your experence with friends so they dont get hurt as much (as we all hope for our friends) I think its also about the traveling Thrice have done together. I think this song is completely about not just the 'Invisible Children' but also about people who are singled out in sociaty e.g 'emos' who are constantly ridiculd and put down and its time for people such as emos to stand up and fight the oppresion of social views. Personally i dont think people can just pick and choice at every point Thrice make a 'Christian' statment and jump at it like its the new chapter of the Bible. |

I do agree with that talk about the song being about Peter. but i strongly think that ibelieveinsilence is wrong about the whole christian theme. just because they quote from the bible in some songs doesnt mean they are actually giving a christian meaning. The band im in we are often quoting frrom the bible, just coz it does have strong meanings in them. but we dont use them in religious ways, but in much more personal ways that people can relate to. I think thats what Thrice mean to do as well. |

Personally i think all of the Christians on here just want to have something to relate to, yes i can see with all the proverbs and stuff why you would take it as christian, but that doesnt mean the song is a christian one, you guys cant just claim it as your own, i think every single song any artist has writen with criptic meanings can have completely different meanings for different people, but im getting anoyed with people just going on and on about them being allllllll about God and the divine rite blah blah blah. I have nothing against religion or whatever but seriouslly not every song by Thrice is christian, that to me is bollocks. But i mean absolutlly no offense to anyone. But on a positive note Thrice has got to be my fav band!! |
