This song was written with Norman Greenbaum .... remember spirit in the sky ... so theres a tip to that with the guitar intro . I love this song because it basically says ' all publicity is good publicity '. I take the point from other reviewers that's its about the vacuous nature of today . But when some one at work was p****ng me off with a bad attitude I quoted this to them and the effect was brilliant it basically it said ' it doesn't matter what you think my ego loves it ' carry on ! |

Fantastic song ,its so obviously sexual , I'm not your senorita presumably means she isn't her lover , I'm not from your tribe - she isn't gay . BUT In the garden - isn't this a reference to the 'perfumed garden ' - e.g. pussy ? I did no crime -its aint wrong . she aint gay but she did it anyway . Now the object ,for the want of a much better word , of the song is fantastically attractive to guys also ss here's a bit of good advice....... if you want 'inside her well ' you gotta do some serious ground work dude ! ...... raspberry swirl (swell) ... Maybe all the young guns are not up to it ....things are getting des-desparate when all the boys can't be men .(oh god how frustrating !) Maybe its only a woman who can get her there ... the last few seconds is clearly post orgasm . .. |

I've always thought of this lyric as being about sex. The 'beautiful calm driving' is sex and the 'deep sea pearl diving' is oral sex from her boyfriend (did no one pick up on that phrase ?) and the 'constantly unwinding' is way the sex is panning out -what's next ? However when he is having sex with her he is 'another man' not the guy she knows but unpredictable ... in fact a bit of a nutter. He is a stranger and a 'danger' - she doesn't quite know what he is going to do ,(although she isnt in any danger) He is lost in another personality she doesnt know.I suppose you could say he is a bit animal. In the second verse he doesnt give much away during sex (she cant quite suss out what he is about ) -'emotional hiding' but even so when they have sex he does it very well 'effortlessly shining'. So there you have it. No doubt this will be a bit obtuse for some. Anyway its a fabulous song.... definitely one of my desert island songs. |

Just brilliant this is the audio equivalent of the 'little black dress' .This works anyway its played .From the 'full on ' colour and the shape version' (mustnt play this in the car or i end up at licence threatening speeds!) I've also got an acoustic version on what sound like a nylon strung guitar which sounds so 'personal'(-not specifically to me but to whom he wrote the song for) it's spookily good.. Just proves you definely dont need to do the full on 'Meatloaf' dancing girls , multi-layered, full choir harmony extravaganza to write a classic.To think this was possibly written when he was noodling around his guitar on a drop d turning.The man's a genius. Itunes shows i've played this 564 times...that's not enough really is it....565 cominmg up. |

Not being a NIN fan but liking this song I checked out the nin catalogue. Hm...this is very commercial and I can see why there's a lot of disappointment. Personally I think the song is about having to do what you don't want to to live. eg.going to work ,etc this I think is 'the hand that feeds.' So the question posed is whether you really believe in it all and are you going to bite that hand - 'tell the boss to shove the job' or whatever I think in the last verse he actually admits that he is stuck in the same trap. 'so na�ve to keep holding on to what I want to believe i can see but i keep holding on and on and on and on' just my pennysworth. |

Certainly about drugs IMHO. Hotel/California -Heroine and Cocaine. Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way -you use a spoon and a candle for injecting heroine They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast- Cutting up lines of coke with a razor blade. You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave! -you can overdose and die anytime but you can't stop taking them Great guitar solo BTW and the song works as a poem too. |
