Elliott Smith – Fake It Through the Day (Miss Misery, early version) Lyrics 18 years ago
First sone I ever heard by Elliott was Miss Misery. Didn't like it much but it grew on me. I started to like it more and more then I heard this version MANXBASS is right this version is definatley more honest I played it at my last show. Great lyrics great song. I guess you have to tap into the darker things in life, the things people are afraid to share untill people start listening

Elliott Smith – Waltz #2 Lyrics 18 years ago
His mother was a singer. It was her singing "Cathy Clown" by Simon and garfunkel. "That’s the man she's married to now" Probably would refer to Charlie the dude that pick on Elliott allot. He's afraid to come to close to home because of all of the things Charlie did to haunt him so "I'm never gonna know you now but I’m gonna love you anyhow Is telling his mother I love you but I’m scared to come back to close into your life in fear of Charlie. "Now she’s done and there calling someone, such a familiar name" His mother is done singing it and she speaks charlies name "Your no good" would probably refer to how he's such a terrible person in all the things he did to Elliott. "'I'm here today I’m expected to stay..." He's there to hear the name "Charlie" and naturally being away from home for sometimes at that point in his life his mother wants him to stay around but he will probably only stay for a short while. Again it says "I’m never gonna know you now..." He's just repeating he can't keep around but I’ll still love you mom. "Lookin out he substitute scene.." His mother was an elementary school teacher in and out of the job apparently as it's stated in this song. "Mr. man with impossible plans" is documented to be about Charlie again he always thought Elliott was a screw up according to this book I read.

Overall this song is his seperation from his mother due to the fear of Charlie. Very clearly stated

Beautiful song. Probably my favorite

Elliott Smith – Everything's Okay Lyrics 18 years ago
Put simply this song can either about denial, drugs, or a woman. I've heard people use the line "walk on water" before and it was usually pertaining to drug use. "The pretty words that you whispered, Maybe I misunderstood" about a woman. Everything’s okay is his inability to face the truth and his denial towards this situation for what ever reason.
So I believe this song is about how a man is seeing a woman and he knows things aren’t going correctly but yet he doesn't want to believe it. Everything’s okay could be about his drug use and the denial, when things really aren’t okay. It's funny because it says "I'll be with you soon, just as soon as I’m paid" could mean this is really about drugs or a gold-digger of a woman, maybe both. Nothings ever for sure ehh?

Again this is an unreleased demo that should have been released on "From a basement on a hill"

Elliott Smith – New Disaster Lyrics 18 years ago
For your information men/woman this was an unreleased demo that was supposed to be on the rumored 30 track "from a basement on a hill" cd. The real song didn't have drums in it. Drums were added on new moon for effect. In my mind it ruined the song to hear it on new moon because those added tracks on "new disaster" weren’t Elliott’s work, just some studio dipsh!t looking to reengineere the song. There’s a reason they call it "The Music Business" If anyone is looking for all the original unreleased demos that were supposed to be on from a basement on the hill I have them on my computer. Give me a shout and I'll send them over to you. They were leaked a while ago I and a few people are potentially the only people still have these songs
