ok well for me, it has this meaning: getting clean from something. it's like the lyric: "step from the road to the sea to the sky" is like: the road is the norm, then with something like heroin you sink (the sea) and with cocaine you fly (the sky) and he keeps getting all mixed up. up down, high low, get it? "Come to believe that I better not leave Before I get my chance to ride" He's saying you only live once, kind of. chance to ride= high. He doesn't want to "leave" (die) without trying it. But enough is enough!! He is clean now! And then the lyric: "When to descend to amend for a friend All the channels that have broken down Now you bring it up I'm gonna ring it up Just to hear you sing it out" The friend is kind of saying "i told you so!" lol thats just what i think |

i can't believe this has so few comments. it is such a loverly song. i think the meaning is: a guy has been cruel to his girlfriend, and now he's just sitting/bumming around, not apologizing, just "wallowing" in his misery: Get up off your back Stop smoking that You could change your life Do you think you'll change their mind. I think his mates are telling him to get up and do something about it. but i dunno, that's just what i thought. maybe it's pete and kate? or is that just reading too much into it... |

i like this song, sorry. i think it's basically about a drug trip. nothing serious though, it's light-hearted and fun. just another random weed experience. watch the movie "yellow submarine" that is SOOOO trippy!! but i think it's funny, it isn't supposed to have a hidden deep meaning, i personally think it's just the Beatles all high and laughing |

what this song means to me: it is sung from the point of view of my best friend (see Feeder's "Feeling a Moment also). I am a coke addict. my friend tried some out of curiosity. She got "dosed by me", and sees the real me: "I got dosed by you and Closer than most to you" She can't help me anymore. She can't take the drug away, it wont help, the damage is done. And she "never had it anyway" because she never became an addict, she tried it for a while. if she takes away the drug, everything won't be okay: "What am I supposed to do Take it away I never had it anyway Take it away and everything will be okay" basically, she loves me, and ditto: "In you a star is born and You cut a perfect form and Someone forever warm" And by taking the coke herself, she didn't want to cause harm, she just wanted to see what she was kissing: "All I ever wanted was your life" (She wanted my highs and stuff). My seahorse is my highs, the drug, the cocaine. We will always be soulmates, and she wouldn't want it any other way. Even though what i am doing is wrong, we are best friends, the ride is right on course: "Show love with no remorse and Climb on to your seahorse and This ride is right on corse This is the way I wanted it to be with you" Well, that is what the song means to us. well i'm probably wrong, but this song means to me: (sung from the point of view of my best best friend) i was talking drugs, cocaine, and getting all messed up: "Feeling the moment slip away Losing direction, you're losing faith You're wishing for someone Feeling it all begin to slide" And she tried the stuff too, to see what it was like. "Am I just like you? All the things you do.. can't help myself." She couldn't help herself. She was curious. Then she began to feel all the negatives of coke, like i did, and couldn't really handle it. She sings to me: "How do you feel when there's no sun? And how will you be when rain clouds come? And pull you down again How will you feel when there's no one? Am I just like you?" She is asking me how do i cope? How do i feel when rainclouds come (get it?), the coke crash, the depression. What is the best way to handle it? Maybe i am wrong, but this is what the song means to us. She has quit cocaine now, but i have not. And she knows it. The best part of the song is: "Don't ever feel that you're alone I'd never let you down I'd never leave you dry Don't fall apart Don't let it go Carry the notion Carry the notion back to me, to me...." Because she still loves me, and will never ever leave me. And when she says "carry the notion back to me" it's weird, it's like she is saying carry the notion of the cocaine highs back to me. Because we both thought it was a great euphoric feeling, but she pulled out just in time, and i did not, and so i am still getting those "high" feelings. She never wants to forget those high times, but she was sensible, and quit. Any comments? This song has made us both cry (we're both girls) |
