I think that this song could be intrepreted in a religious context as well. I think that its basically written from the demons in Hell and there point of view as they are commanded by Satan to make the damned suffer for all eternity as evidenced in the "while they bleed through damnation" line. But this could also just me about making somebody you really hate suffer. |

For this song, some of the possible meanings are a journalist digging up dirt on a politician (Meeting John at Dale's Jr.), and the western world's obsession with gadgets and trinkets (plutonium wedding rings). I-E-A-I-A-I-O are the vowels inside the word I-d-E-A-l-I-z-A-t-I-O-n.
