| Pulp – David's Last Summer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
the poetry in this song is amazing, it sums up everything that summer means to me. and its impermenance, and how when its getting near the end you just try to hang on for it and make it last forever. but then it just never does. it just makes me long for summer right now tbh. |

| Aspen It Is – Someone has an AK Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's "I think you've fallen from heaven" in the first verse. The way I imagine it it's like, he's sitting on the beach at night with this girl who he's in love with, watching the ocean, and it all seems so surreal that it's making him struggle with the line between reality and imagination. They're sitting next to each other and they're not speaking, but he's thinking about her. Maybe she doesn't know how he feels, I'm not sure. Also I think that maybe they're going to be seperated in the near future, so he's saying that they need to live in the moment because it will never come again, kind of thing. I think he'll miss her. That's just how I see it anyway :] |

| Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics | 18 years ago |

All the boys who the dancefloor didn't love, and all the girls whose lips couldn't move fast enough, sing, until your lungs give out That bit is SO sonic youth. |

| Taking Back Sunday – There's No 'I' In Team Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
There are so many brand new references in this song: "Broken down in bars and bathrooms" is similar to "broken down in my dead bedroom" from Magazines. "I've got a twenty dollar bill..." is a reference to Mixtape: "I've got a twenty dollar bill that says no one's ever seen you without make up.." And then there's the obvious seventy times seven references: "best friends means"- "The ties you severed when you say best friends means friends forever" And then the whole tact/brick in the small of my back thing is more or less directly from 70 x 7. I think it is an apology in a sense. The two are making peace with each other. |

| Brand New – Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The song's about what basically all of brand new's material is about: the line between what we want to do/ what we should do, and the moral implications of our actions. It is about taking advantage of a girl, but he's also comparing that to the record industry. But in a really subtle way. Mostly it's just about the girl. |

| Brand New – Millstone Lyrics | 18 years ago |

"take me out tonight" A smiths reference? Maybe? "Take me out tonight/ because I never never want to go home/ because I haven't got one anymore"- There is a light that never goes out. Might be coincidental x |

also, it seems to be a bit about growing up and losing the illusion/ideal of love. He used to want this girl to leave her boyfriend and fall in love with him, but now he sees that love isn't like that and there's all kinds of practicality involved. |

| Lloyd Cole & The Commotions – Jennifer she said (album) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
You fell in love with a girl called Jennifer. So for want of something better to do/ in declaration of your love you got her name tattooed onto your arm. People warned you that it was all too hasty but you were so determined that she was THE ONE that you didn't listen to them. Then one day you woke up and realised that it was all a big mistake and it had never actually been love. So you broke up but you still have the tattoo as a reminder. And it's never going away. Oh and p.s. you're fickle. |

| Pulp – Razzmatazz Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| We slept together and you didn't call me when you said you would and you cheated on me. So then I left you and your whole life started falling apart. No one wants you now, and you brought all this on yourself, and to be honest i'm pretty glad about it. | |
| Pulp – Do You Remember The First Time? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
basically: i know the first time we had sex it was shit but we've both grown up now and i think we should do it again. When I'm alone at night and you're with your boyfriend I wish that I was more stable like he is, but looking at the situation as a whole I'm pretty glad I'm not. I just wish that you'd see how much better I am than him and leave him. i know i used to complain about you being with him all the time and i still think he's a boring twat but, you know what, I'd rather share you with him than not have you at all. I'll settle for just a piece of you. |
