Well, I for one think this song has a lot more to do with how things are now, and how things used to be. For example, the name of the song is "I've Got All This Ringing In My Ear And None On My Finger" Well, when people talk about you, it's an old saying that you get a ringing noise in your ears, maybe that's why there's ringing, and as far as none on his finger, that could mean because he's too busy to be in a relationship. "Pushed up the window to kiss you off" That could be to show that he doesn't need to leave through the door and be seen by anyone, in order to have any resemblance of a love life again, he'll need to hide it from media or paparazzi.
