John Mayer – Free Fallin' (Tom Petty cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
a boy i know dedicated this song to me.
i know what i want it to mean, but i'm not sure if it's right at all.
his vocals just convey such a sense of surrender and falling that you can't help but fall in love. awesome song.

Something Corporate – As You Sleep Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that this song is more about preparing to break off a relationship with a girl. He knows that she still loves him and he still cares for her somewhat, but he's found someone else and doesn't want to hurt her. So this is his last goodbye/lullaby.

He's not ready to physically leave her just yet, but he'll "hold her head" above the water so that she doesn't drown without him. He's keeping her from sinking into despair as he prepares to move on.

Matthew West – More Lyrics 18 years ago
this song always sends shivers up my spine.
it's so personal.
"just one face in a city, just one tear on a crowded street..."
hasn't everyone felt this way at some time?
it's got so much meaning and describes God's love so well.
christian rock anthem. :3

Stellar Kart – Finish Last Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is an awesome nonconformity song.
forget what the world thinks.
no matter what the world thinks of me, even if i seem to finish the race last...
there's so much more waiting for me with God.

The Libertines – What Katie Did Lyrics 18 years ago
i really like the sunspots theory...

that looking at "katie" was like looking into the sun. she left him dazzled and confused, polka dots filling his vision. n.n

Relient K – Jefferson Aero Plane Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't know if it's about a breakup. It could be about a friend that he likes, but he doesn't think she likes him. Because they're such good friends, he's afraid of doing anything to screw up their friendship, so he's "never said nothing with flowers", even though they always "talked for hours".

It sounds like she cries on his shoulder, but he can't tell her that he likes her, so he only has his own shoulder to cry on. He's "trapped and enclosed" by his feelings and their friendship. All he wants is to spend time with her, so he hides what he feels, throws on a sweater and goes.

But when he gets home, all he wants to do is eat cereal to comfort himself and stare out the window, thinking of her.

He wants to change into the kind of guy she likes, hence all the stuff about surgery.

He's protective of her, saving her "plunging neckline", telling her to skip the rave. But she ignores him, only having eyes for other guys.

He still can't tell her how he feels, so he'll just tag along with her and not say anything because the show must go on as it has been, so they can keep their friendship.

The Killers – Andy, You're a Star Lyrics 18 years ago
Here's a new idea.

This sounds to me like a song from the point of view of a little brother, really looking up to his big brother, who was a star athlete in high school.

Now the older brother's moved on and the little brother's in high school, seeing "the legacy in gold on the plaques that line the halls". But he's the one who still remembers what his brother did on the field, how he was a star, when nobody else does.

He tries to make sure that the girl he likes isn't the one his brother's in love with, "promise me she's not your world".

And this song is pretty much trying to tell his brother how he's felt about him all these years, and he wants to get it out now, so he has to keep his brother from saying anything: "hey shut up".

Fall Out Boy – Roxanne (The Police cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
i really like this cover. it's definitely a more rock/punk-style, as opposed to the original, which is a little bit lighter rock, i guess.
i think FOB did a pretty good job with it. it could definitely be worse.

but i love Fall Out Boy to death anyway, and the fact that they did one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite artists... just more luff.

Skye Sweetnam – Sharada Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song.

I swear, this was written for one of my friends. She's a daydreamer, always staring out windows and spacing off. She's a writer, too, and her stuff is incredible. There are some issues in her life, but they never get her down. She's always there with a smile for her friends, no matter how she actually feels. Her grades are pretty bad, but she's still smart. Just like in the song, she's off dreaming.

Prep with the soul of an emo, I call her, and I love her. She's gonna be somebody.
This song is everything that she is.
Whenever I listen to it, I can't help but think of her.

Fall Out Boy – Hum Hallelujah Lyrics 18 years ago
the part "sing the blues and swallow them too" randomly reminds me of a Hindu myth. the god Shiva swallows poison and holds it in his throat, and it turns his throat blue.

drugs=poison?
