I believe the title of this song is very telling. A banshee is a female spirit who is a omen of death. So this song is the mourning or telling of a story of lost. It's about a girl and two boys one she has chosen to go back to although he is clearly the wrong choice and the other who has been there for her all along. He knows they are meant to be together "that either way you look at it you have your fits" Fits as in soul-mate but "I have my fits but feeling is good" he'll go on and find another. She'll eventually figure out that the boy she has chosen is no good and she'll be looking for him to comfort her but she'll only have his letters. "but if were miscommunicating do we feel the same?I have my fits but feeling is good" In the end he has come to terms with the fact that she is his perfect fit but he is not her's. "You gotta give a little you gotta get a little bit" Summing up the importance of compromise and his defended situation. Another "it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" story My favorite line "Well I found new feelings at the feeling store" Line that sums this song up the most "There'll be time to get by to get dry after the swimming pool" because it's all about recovering from love. |
