Marilyn Manson – Cryptorchid Lyrics 18 years ago
I like everyones interpretation of the song.

As for my own I think the number seven does not mean the actual age but the esoteric 7. To him anybody with blind faith at any biological age is still a boy.

I am wondering if anybody here has read into Aliestor Crowley and his system of Qabalah. I have been studying a lot of him and have made many connections in Manson's symbolism.

I haven't read any of the books Manson has written and only know a little about him. The reason why I say this is that the title of the song is Cryptorchid. I believe this title has a double meaning; cryptorchidism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptorchidism, and that he is telling you he is singing cryptically.

The only way you can really make sense of the song is by thinking of it in cryptic terms.

The other reason I mention Crowley is that of the New Aeon.

Prick your finger it is done
The moon has now eclipse the son
The angel has spread its wings
The time has come for bitter things.

I haven't tackled Crowley's view of the New Aeon. But to sum up my understanding of it is that we are all in a Paradigm shift of consciousness and have the ability to disprove the old Gods.

Hopefully someone can help me out in my understanding. First I would like to say I'm not an athiest, nor am I a Christian or any other cute little cliche. I believe this can develop an us against them mentality which I think Manson is trying to expose. However, I don't believe Manson is a Satanist. If he is indeed a self-confessed Satanist, it is not one of the Christian understanding.

Marilyn Manson – Posthuman Lyrics 18 years ago
@Noizenotwar

I would have to agree with you.

This by far is my favorite Manson song. When I first heard it all I was really paying attention too was "God is just a Statistic" because that was what Manson was stressing.

I don't agree with other people about being a direct jab at Christianity. I think he was indirectly criticizing it by saying that those who blindly follow any sort of dogmatic belief system choose just to except what they are told and not concerned in thinking for themselves.

Just as the pope is thought to have been chosen by God people still look for that (supposed) perfect leader who will do all the thinking for them.

Hypothetically if Abraham Zapruder were born in a different time as a Catholic near the vatican would try to get really close to the pope. It was the feeling he got by being close to someone he thought could take away all of his problems.

"God is just a statistic" Since Kennedy was shot it must have shattered Zapruder's worldview seeing that after all he was only human. Just another dead person.

I think Manson literally means that Kennedy was nothing more than a statistic. I base this on "Fight Song" where he says,"

The death of One is a tragedy(someone of importance)
The death of a million is just a statistic.

Manson is trying to expose this crystallized, non-critical thinking belief system and mindset which produces false idol worship be it religious, political, or educational. These "posthumans" need an external person to make them feel better.

@MeshBlorg

I have read a lot of Nietzsche and think Manson is using it differently. "You are posthuman and Hardwired" This posthuman is shown that he can't let go of his limited worldview.

One final thought in my interpretation is that Manson is singing to all of the "Zapruders" out there. I picture Kennedy getting the bullet in the head and associate it with the Lyric "God is just a statistic". By saying this, he is telling all of the "Zapruders", your hero worship is false and empty because this 'Man of Steel, Superman' because the only powers this god really possesses is the ability to put on the tight spandex and cape, forget about watching leap tall buildings.
