mewithoutYou – I Never Said That I Was Brave Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that this may have a lot to do with an addiction to weed or drink.

When one is on weed, it dampens the part of your brain that provides dreams, which is why, for those of us that quit weed, you'll notice your dreams become extremely intense during that time. (You may sleep, but you'll never dream). She could be trying very hard to break this habit, but is failing miserably. (Onwards! Progress! Or so it seems...) Also on drink/drugs, you may laugh your head off, however this laughter is only a chemical reaction and in reality, sober, you can't find anything to smile about. (You may laugh, but you'll never smile.) And this is a waste of her life. (Come on in and waste awhile).

(When dreams of rings of flowers fade and blur), the thoughts of the intoxicated...(Giving way to that familiar ill) Can anyone say hang-over? (Come over and part your soft white curtains) This is a symbol of her readiness to reveal something she's been hiding, which may be the reason for bad habits. (Where I'm waiting for you still) He's offering her support.

(If you'd unlatch the window,) If she would offer him the bright hope and vast possibility of forgiveness, (If you'd let me lay there on your floor) If she would support him with forgiveness (If you'd give me another chance,) If she'd forgive him. (If you'd forget the pain I caused before) If she'd forgive him.

(No use in saying how I'm sorry) (So I'm trying not to speak) because talk is cheap...(I'll sing in silence, lay beside you)
(With my face there on your cheek) He knows he's unable express his opinions and feelings properly, but he wants the commintment, intamicy and closeness they once shared.

(My stomach swears there's comfort there) his centre of emotions suggest that he knows this is a new, if difficult, change beginning in his life (In the warmth of the blankets on your bed) he believes she can provide him with the warm love and secure protection that he needs (My stomach's always been a liar-)(I'll believe it's lies again.) He isn't as confident or trusting of his emotions as he was before, but he's having a 'What the hell' descision.

mewithoutYou – The Cure for Pain Lyrics 18 years ago
First of all, I feel so bad for mwY because the situation he is singing about was something out of his control, and yet he is so hard on himself for it.
(The cure for pain is in the pain, so it’s there that you will find me.) Obviously, he is experiencing some overwhelming turmoil in his life and he’s trying to disconnect himself from his reality by concentrating on the pain. (Until again I forget, and again he reminds me.) He will drift back to reality, but he knows, perhaps by the Lord’s urging, that he has not cured the pain. (Hear my voice in your head, and think of me kindly.) He hears it, and he understands what he’s being told, but it’s such a sensitive area,,which would be why it says ‘think of me kindly’. Because, it’s so hard to do, like cutting open a freshly healed wound because you know that there is a infection deep within that could take your life. lol Sorry about the needless metaphores…onwards now.
(Lowered down like a casket and buried just below her chest.) He will most definitely be going through a period of depression. He feels confined, restricted and lacking of personal freedom. He knows that the situation he speaks of is already dead, slowly decaying and he has to put an end to it. (Whatever I was searching for, it was never you, she said.) Obviously, she is the dumper, and he is the dumpee’. (The record ended long ago, but we go on dancing nonetheless.) Whatever enjoyment or sensual pleasure they got from that relationship, it has ended, nonetheless they pretend that everything is harmonious between them, that they are freely enjoying the happiness and sensuality of the intimate union of a male and female…and of course, they aren’t.
(I opened like a locket.) He opened himself up, exposing his gentle heart…now burnt and bruised. (If you are ever cold, I wrote, there’s warmth inside me.) He lets her know that there is hope for this relationship, and that he has unconditional love for her. (I’m the pocket of an old winter coat.) He also lets her know that he has hidden parts of himself from her, and that some things about him are undeveloped. He’s strong and will work at the relationship with his full potential, but he still feels down on himself.(But where she used to say, I need you, now…I don’t.) Again, he tells us that she rejected him.
(You’d only make the softest sound, like sugar pouring into tea.) She pleased him and he enjoyed her, but now he must deny her. He was satisfied and content in their slow relationship, but now he has to end it fast. He wants some more time to indulge in their love, but he knows…they’ve pretended for long enough. (Darling, let yourself pour down and dissolve into the Love that revealed himself there quietly to me.) One last wish for her to turn to the Lord so that she may be saved, and perhaps so that when she is reborn she may turn once more to him. Perhaps that is what split them up, because it is written that two with different gods cannot be yoked together. Perhaps, if she turned to the Lord, she would also turn to him, and he may once again be yoked to her. ((Jesus have mercy on us.)) Jesus have mercy on him with his pain, and her with her ignorance.

Circa Survive – In the Morning and Amazing... Lyrics 18 years ago
First of all, he isn’t sure how to express himself, but he wants to get his opinion out and explain how he feels, and yet, he’s not sure how this person will react. Uneasy. (Infinite silence) And yet, all this uneasiness is flowing in with a new understanding and a start of a new stage in life (flowing in with the dawn). However, (this is wrong), so he wishes to just remain ignorant to it all, wishing for some peace of mind (I cannot sleep), however, he cannot remain ignorant much longer because he is aware of the situation (without the radio on)
This person he sings of excessively worries and frightens him (you are in my dreams). And he feels that he has to take a closer and better look at things, concentrating and focusing on this long-neglected situation (looking right through the lens). Also, from all this depression and misfortune, these cold frigid feelings (from the winter) bring new beginnings (brings spring again).
Near the end, he again wishes to go back to that ignorant state of mind (and we fall asleep again) and he wants to move forward again, with no more negative obstacles in his way (let the cleaning begin) a change, a slow progress (evolution). And then he persists in stubbornly sticking to his one-sided view (hold my breath) until the change in his affairs leave (until communication leaves). Insecure fears of failure cause him to say (only just a test.)
That probably didn't help, but I hope it did. lol

Fightstar – Until Then Lyrics 18 years ago
This is interesting. Obviously the first part is simple. He tries to communicate and she is simply not replying (which brings him down) and when she tries to see exactly what she means to him she understands (and that brings him up). The 'only a matter of time' is interesting because it is basically promising something unpromisable. He doesn't know if it's only a matter of time, (he's probably secretly stressed about this fact) but he says it, hoping that will make it true. Rain falling tends to symbolize forgivness and grace (the part where perhaps she would forgive him for whatever exactly it is he's done?), and the lightning striking her heart seems to be a wish that the events will take a shocking turn, suggesting that he wishes there would be a 'force' that governs her life without her control. (Sudden love for him perhaps?) And he continues to wait (knowing things will happen at their own pace, but still ready for action, quivering with anticipation) and he searches on (which tells us that he's still looking for an answer to the problem). However, he clearly tells us at the end that he will find his love (taking their relationship to a whole new level), bad grammar for I'll take you there...technically, it should be I'll bring you there, and he assures us (and himself) that he will be fine. I hope I caught everything there. Until Then,

Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that mainly this song is about when you are in that helplessness, the feeling that you can't escape life's problems, and due to low confidence and lack of clear goals, you can't seem to move ahead (stuck in reverse). Also, when he's talking about lights, I think there's more to that. It's the point where your mind clears, where you understand plainly, and where you have gained insight and truth on that once-cloudy situation or problem. It is then that you find yourself secure, with all your basic needs and values laid out before you. And for the bones part (which ppl don't seem to understand) I think it's the part of you that below the surface, the underlying strengths that you have not yet recognized, but when they are 'ignited' that's the part where he recognizes his strengths...Alrighty then, that's about it

The Bled – Hotel Coral Essex Lyrics 18 years ago
'if it starts to feel, then we'll just shut it off again
we won't convince the jury, we're guilty till we die
if it starts to sing, reach in remove the sirens
this respirator keeps a countdown to our cancellation
if it starts to bleed, do not adjust the contrast.'

I'm assuming that when they say 'it' they mean the heart. Figuratively a heart can 'feel', 'sing', and 'bleed'. However, I don't really understand the context of the song. The Bled mentions 'my love' a few times so I'm guessing that this song is about a realtionship. The question I have though, is the relationship cast in a negative or postive light?
