I see it like this: The narrator is sitting in bed and the sight of a wasp makes him remember a painful experience; one time he was swimming with his brother one summer at the palisades. They were young and carefree and happy. He often teased his brother very harshly, but in his heart he really did love him. So they are swimming, and the narrator comes up to find that there is a wasp on the arm of his brother, who is alergic to wasps. His brother is bit and dies in his arms before he ever gets a chance to tell him how he really feels. The second half of the song is just him remaniscing on all the hapy moments they had together. |
