| Nightwish – Dark Chest Of Wonders Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| seems like the he writes about the innocence in his childhood, which was 'stolen' from him as he grew up (his innocence seems to be 'in the big blue'. i don't know why). tonight he's turning back time and returns to childhood - 'flying to a dream'. the dark chest of wonders seems to mark all the stories and fairytales he heard and believed as a child... maybe it's not a metaphor and he actually refers to a chest where he kept all his childhood books or something... | |
| Nightwish – Feel For You Lyrics | 18 years ago |

it doesn't seem to be a very complacated song. the first verse speaks about what he was to her in the past, and describes her really strong love to him (for example he is the earth moving under her...) the second verse speaks about what she means to him today. she speaks of herself as something very negative (try thinking of someone breathing on your hair). suggesting that they're no longer together. in the third verse she says 'only so many times i can say i long for you'. now, my english is not that good but i think this expression means 'there's a limit to the times i can say i long for you', suggesting the reason to her suicide. she also calls him the 'lily among the thorns' (perhaps taken from the bible -Song of Solomon 2:2) and the prey among the wolves. the whole verse suggests she still loves him. on the fourth verse she says she's gonna drink a snake's venom and 'stay awake'. in my head i imagine someone who drank a poison and is dead but with her eyes are still opened. the only thing that disturbes me here is that drinking a snake's venom does not kill (it's healthy actually). i guess the writer didn't know that ;P the next verse is the male's answer. it seems there's some kind of wrangling between the two lovers, and inspite of what she's done, they're still at a draw. (don't think there's something necrophiliatic here though...) last verse she answers him, saying that it was all done for him (the suicide i think), and that she feels for him. now my guess is that she is trying to mock him , since 'feel for you' could also have a cynic meaning of 'i pity you'. not sure about this part though... that sums is i guess... any comments ? |
