i looked through all these comments, and i am quite surprised that no one has seen it how i do. about drugs by any chance??? "Maybe I don't really want to know How your garden grows" - doesnt care how the drugs have grown (weed, coke, heroin?) "I just want to fly" - fly high on drugs "Lately did you ever feel the pain In the morning rain As it soaks you to the bone" - how you feel after, as he is unaware of the rain and just standing there "Maybe I just want to fly I want to live I don't want to die Maybe I just want to breath Maybe I just don't believe" - again flying high, dont want to die, feel immortal when stoned. dont believe that what hes doing is wrong. "Maybe you're the same as me We see things they'll never see You and I are gonna live forever" - the same, also do drugs, things they'll never see, well could be hallucinations, live forever, again feeling immortal. well thats just how i read it. |

this song sums up teenage culture pretty much perfectly. its mianly about the stereotypes that the people that are trying to be "indie" follow.. "hoxton hero..skinny fit jeans and dressed in pink" "indie cindy..lego haircut and polkadot dress" "band boys..specs and sneakers" the verse, "i went to a rave and it got real moody", thats basically about these new "indie" kids, who were mainly chavs that have just followed the latest trend, but dont understand it and therefore "how shes different is anyones guess", have gone to raves, because thats the coolest thing to do, but have completely ruined the atmosphere because they're NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE because it's not their style or their style of music, so they don't know how to act and just stand around. the line "i doubt he's lived a life of grime" pretty much backs up this point, as hes talking about someone whos come to trying to get in with a certain "trend" but can't relate to it. i think the line "is it the same at their public school" is kind of suggesting that these people that are taking over the indie scene and trying to be 'different' are the posh-ass rich private school kids, as if they haven't got enough they have to ruin other people's style. and the final verse is basically saying that he's indie, but hes not going to change the way he is just because other people are following the crowd. the best line, of courseee, is "and you look silly when you put on your best myspace pout" that sums up teenage culture in pretty much one line. these fake girls pouting and photoshopping pictures for ages just to put them on myspace and wait for picture comments. pleasssse, these people, get a life. |

just a few words i think are wrong, i think its actually "it's quite packed yeah you can tell" instead of "it's quite catchy if you could tell" and also, i think it is "'til we put a high five through the tv screen" instead of "hifi". pretty self explanitory song. showing what the youth of today is like, and that all they really care about is having sex and drug filled parties. |

wait, i just looked at it again, and i think what i wrote was wrong. now i think its the other way, the woman messed him around a bit. bluboy31 got it pretty well. "handing you a heart worth breaking" i now realise is his heart which she broke. |

im finding it quite confusing that lots of people seem to think that his girlfriend has hurt him, but the line "for handing you a heart worth breaking" just seems like he has hurt her. i think hes done wrong and drove her away, and her leaving reminds him of what a horrible man he was for breaking her heart. "to the bottom of every bottle" possibly saying he was an alcoholic..abusive in the relationship and therefore she left. "i said i love you and i swear i still do" makes it seem as though she left him, not the other way. anyway, thats how i take the song. its really good though because its true, it can be taken in so many different ways. |

ok. this song is talking about all different types of music genres. you can tell by the different things he talks about. but its not so much slating, but saying where they go wrong. and the band dress like they want, not following any genre. they were wearing bright colours long before bright colour jeans came out. they started the trend. but thats the thing, they've become a trend. thats the only flaw. someone said something about white lines, like chavs wear. they're talking about doing coke. because people that do drugs think that they're so cool so they do coke so people know. this song is amazing. i love it. and i think they make amazing lyrics. they sing about what the fuck they like and it works. |

| also, with the whole, "its ok/its all good" thing. two people are singing at that time. maybe one is sayin "its ok" and the other "its all good"? thats what it sounds like. it also sounds like "his eyes are LOST on her"? or am i just hearing wrong? | |

| i love this song. its amazing. and i love seeing what everyone has wrote. but dont you think you're reading into it a bit too much? the band probably just wrote the song so it can be enjoyed, not disected and picked apart to see what it means. its interesting seeing how the guy could either be on drugs, or just a social reject, but its like going back to school again and analysing the words seeing what they mean. i love the song because it all sounds great together, thats most important. | |
