April March – Lunar Lake Lyrics 16 years ago
Here is my translation of this song :

I like to go back home
After a long trip
The trees and fireflies
Greet me in the dark

I like to go back home
After a long trip
My sweetheart's smiles
Seem electric to me

I like to go back home
After a long trip
I take my little baby
And bounce him on my knee

I like to go back home
After a long trip
I take my oldest son
And cradle him like a baby

April March – Attention Cherie Lyrics 16 years ago
Right after singing "Attention chérie", she sings "le diable te suit" (meaning "the devil follows you").

Emmy the Great – Bad Things Coming, We Are Safe Lyrics 16 years ago
An excellent song about feeling safe and strong when you're with the one you love. And a reference to Salomé and the Dance of the Seven Veils in the second verse.

Little Joy – Evaporar Lyrics 16 years ago
Thanks for the lyrics AND the translation !

It seems to me a mystic reflection about time, with a brillant metaphor assimilating time with water.

St. Vincent – Paris Is Burning Lyrics 17 years ago
As many said, I'm pretty sure there is an allusion to WWII, especially since there is a French film called "Paris brûle-t-il ?" (meaning "Is Paris burning ?") about the end of the war (and the end of the nazi Occupation in France).

Stacey Kent – La Saison Des Pluies Lyrics 17 years ago
Another Gainsbourg's cover, about the end of a love affair.

Stacey Kent – Samba Saravah Lyrics 17 years ago
This song was written by Francis Lai, and was originally sung by Pierre Barouh. It appears in the film "A Man And A Woman".

Once again, I must say that Stacey Kent has a near perfect french accent, and that her voice is wonderful.

Stacey Kent – Ces Petits Riens Lyrics 17 years ago
This is a perfect cover of a Serge Gainsbourg's song, and Stacey Kent has a good french accent.

I couldn't really translate it, as it's full of play on words (like a lot of Gainsbourg's songs actually), but it's about a man who was in love with a cruel woman, who didn't care about him, so now he's fed up with her and leave her.

Robots in Disguise – Voodoo Lyrics 17 years ago
The french bit isn't grammatically correct, but it means something like 'magical as it is, I write your name this time'.

Mark Lanegan – Methamphetamine Blues Lyrics 17 years ago
Bruiseviolet -> I think it's rather Molly McGuire singing.

Justice – DVNO Lyrics 18 years ago
And there's a club in Aix-en-Provence (near Marseilles) called "DVNO".

Billie Holiday – Twenty-Four Hours a Day Lyrics 18 years ago
This may be the sweetest song ever.

Oh and, everybody noticed it was about love and how we're all the same when we're into.
