100degrees: i think you're taking the lyrics of the song a bit too literal. youre just reading words and breaking them down. but when a musician writes a song theyre usually using metaphors to tell their feelings. pills dont necessarily make you sick, fyi, but i think he was trying to say in that verse that pills and other drugs are depended on too often by people to solve their problems, when in reality it doesnt solve anything. |

Originally titled "The Clap," the song is about a woman with whom the singer has had sexual relations, only to later learn that she has, and has infected him with, gonorrhea. As with its title, "The Jack" uses playing card metaphors to allude to the venereal disease, genitalia, and sexual activity, but originally featured more straightforward lyrics that were often used by Scott (and replacement singer Brian Johnson) at live concerts. |
