I think kidsperanto hit it pretty well. After I split up with a girl after three years of being together, where the first year was awesome and the last two were on and off where I should have called it over, this song pretty much described the lonliness and desire to maintain a relationship that is going nowhere just to fend off insecurity. Also made me think of how lucky I felt when I firs hooked up with her and then when the relationship went stale but i still wanted to keep her around, then It sucked thinking about her being free to be with whoever she wanted, even though we are both better off in the long run because that is not why you should want to be with a woman. |

I'd say it is hard to argue this is a song about impressing a girlfriend's mom. This song nails what its like to spend a weekend at a girl's parent's house when her mom is acting like you aren't good enough for her. Its frustrating as hell. Notice how the song is directed "spoken to" the girl and not the mom as a way of telling her that he WANTS the mom to like him but she isn't giving him much of a chance. He kind of tells the girl that he wants to make her happy despite what the mom thinks of him. |

I think that people who are saying this song is condecending are a little too PC. There is nothing wrong with wanting to help a woman who is bottled up that you care about want to open herself up to you in hopes that it would help her fall for you. |
