Lifehouse – Running Away Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's a song about giving things up for the other person, and leaving everything behind in order to get them back. Here's my play-by-play of the song:

"Lost my step, fell back down/ Lost my breath/ chasing you around/ Easy said, hard to do/ My pride's halfway dead/ Am I halfway to you?"

He screwed up, and now she's gone. He realized his mistake and now he's trying to find her again. His pride is crushed by all that he's done and doing, but all he wants to know is if he's any closer to getting her back.

"And I never thought I'd be the one/ Who would have to come back down/ Now I'm running away/ Running away back on the ground/ And every time I lost my way/ You were there to break my fall/Now I'm running away/Running away to leave it all"

He never thought he'd mess up like he has, and would have to go to such depths to get her back, but now he has, and he's ready to drop everything in order to get her back. She was always there for him and helped in, and now, all he wants is to have her back, so he'll "run away" from anything that's stopping them (be it a career, people's judgements, etc)

"Wait for me, I fell behind/ Honestly, this is my best try/ It's not enough and it will never be/ If it's good enough for you/ Then that's good enough for me"

He's asking her to take him back. He's doing all that he can, and he feels like all that he's done is never going to be enough to make up for what he did, but if she can find all that he's doing enough to take him back, then he'll accept that it was good enough.

"I wanna see/The world that's standing right in front of me/ The only peace that I can find/ The only home that you can be"

I'm not quite sure about this part. I think it's like relating to how he will "run away from it all" and when you run away, you see the world, so it's like he wants to see everything, as a person who is still with this girl. She brings him peace, and no mater where they are, it's like home, because all he needs is her.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Lifehouse – Cling And Clatter Lyrics 18 years ago
To me, this song is a bit of what everyone has been saying.

The first part is talking about how there's so many voices telling you what to do, and what to think, and influencing you and your actions, and just trying to find comfort or an escape from it all (Screaming in tongues on the top of my lungs/'Til i find you, 'Til you found me/Somehow i always knew that you
would")

Then the chorus is talking about just trying to figure out where you stand and just trying to get your voice out of all the things that everyone is saying. After all, your opinion and voice is the only thing that matters.

The next verse is him saying if he could, he would shut out all the voices and thoughts in his head. And it's like he knows that everyone is thinking or saying to him, even if they don't verbally say it to him.

Then, I agree with SkylarMarie11 on the "muppet dolls" verse. It's everyone trying to get you to think or believe one thing and inside you're "bleeding" just trying to find your own voice.

Personally, I don't think this song gets all the credit it deserves. It's a great song about just finding your voice between all the other forces in your life.

Can someone explain this part: "am I burning/am I only melting/these diamonds in the making"

I think it's about a guy who's stuck in the past. Like he can't get a past relationship out of his head. Catchy.

Jason Wade has said many times that this song was written about "a special person" and has admitted that it's about his wife.

I'm not really sure why it's "like being in love", but I'm guess it's because it's that point where you think it's love, and you trying to figure out, is this it? Because you're so young that you're not sure what that feeling it.

Great song.

Lifehouse – Whatever It Takes Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, the song is pretty self explanatory, and simple, but deep and soo heartfelt at the same time. The rawness of Jason's voice during the chorus just hits you so much harder. My favorite on the track.

Lifehouse – You And Me Lyrics 18 years ago
Jason Wade who wrote the song said this about it:

“You know when you start to fall for someone but you’re not sure if they return the feeling? You could be in a room full of people, but all you see is her. It’s like being in the eye of a hurricane and everything else is swirling around you, but you’re totally fixated on this person, and you’re wondering, Does she feel it too?” - Jason Wade (Lifehouse)

Lifehouse – Empty Space Lyrics 18 years ago
Jason WAde (songwriter) said this about the song:
"This is about the good and the bad, the struggle between beauty and darkness and how they're intertwined. What keeps relationships together is often what drives them apart. I've managed to find a niche of writing where I can take something from my own perspective and give it to a broad audience, where they can get something completely different from it than I do. That's the beauty of music - it's a universal language, something people can relate to their own lives."

I think it's just about being completely in love with someone and letting go and trusting the relationship. I don't see it as a Christian song (especially after his explanation), but more of a relationship song.

I think the lines: "until you're everything/I have nothing/but an empty space" Is like saying you are all that I have, and so if you're not everything, then I have nothing, because you're it. And it's going along with the trusting the relationship thing. Like, he's saying take what's left of me, and h'es blindly going down a road, because he trusts the other half of the relationship.

Does anyone get the "into the sun" symbolism? I've tried so hard to understand why they're "running into the the sun" but I just don't get it.

Lifehouse – Joshua Lyrics 18 years ago
I kind of see it as a simple love song. Just someone offering support and comfort to another that is lost in the confusion that surrounds them. Yes, it could have a biblic reference because of the title of the song, but at the same time it could be interpreted as the "you" is refering to a person, not God. In my opinion.
