| Sunset Rubdown – You Go On Ahead (Trumpet, Trumpet II) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"I wondered whether or not that SHIT was empty." and it's also: "navigate TO hills..." not two. and it's "Flick their tongues" like squandor said. and the last line is apparently "changing shape" not "change in shape" but i don't think that really matters. all the official lyrics for the whole album are here: http://www.sunsetrubdown.net/lyrics.php |

| St. Vincent – The Party Lyrics | 16 years ago |

| Sunset Rubdown – Stadiums and Shrines Lyrics | 16 years ago |

| Sunset Rubdown – Dragon's Lair Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I’m sorry that I’m late I went blind I got confetti in my eyes I was held up at yesterday’s parties I was needed on the congo line But my dear, oh my dear I’d like to fight the good fight for another couple of years ‘cause to say the war is over is to say you are a widow You’re not a widow yet! You’re not a widow yet! You’re not a widow yet! You’re not a widow yet! So this one’s for the critics and their disappointed mothers For the cupid and the hunter shooting arrows at each other Ain’t no such thing as a saint, Ain’t no such thing as a sinner, oh There’s a swan among the pigeons of Barcelona’s floor There’s a Samson with Delilahs lining up outside the door If you are sharpening your scissors I am sharpening my scissors, And I am sharpening my sword So you can take me to the dragon’s lair Or you can take me to Rapunzel’s windowsill Either way it is time for a bigger kind of kill… A bigger kind of kill. Oh I see your face when I close my eyes Oh I see the muscles in your legs from the way you always rise To the occasion of catching things that fall Like the statuettes on pedestals I tend to build too tall. But I have navigated Iceland I’ve laid my claim on Portugal I have seen into the wasteland Oh the future Oh the future of us all. ?????????????????? Of dead, dead leaves last fall ?????????????????? Of dead, dead leaves last fall Dead leaves Dead leaves Dead leaves Dead leaves Seen from the back of a train I rode away from your station They drifted in the air Like memoirs of old conversations Sprung from a leather case You opened in the wind To watch the papers chase each other Into oblivion (You’re such a champion You’re such a champion I hide behind your sun You are the champion) x3 So you can take me to the dragon’s lair You can take me to Rapunzel’s windowsill Either way it is time, oh it is time For a bigger kind of kill… A bigger kind of kill A bigger kind of kill (x10) A bigger kind of kill, kill, kill, kill, kill A bigger kind of kill (x3) A bigger kind of kill, kill, kill, kill, kill |

| Sunset Rubdown – Black Swan Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| yeah I wasn't sure about that one either or the one right before it. but other than that I think we've got it. | |
| Sunset Rubdown – Dragon's Lair Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i agree with a swan among the pigeons of Barcelona's floor. "Like a statuette on pedestals I tend to build to tall." "I have navigated Iceland" and I think it's the future "of us all" not "oh, I saw." then I have no idea what he's saying in the yelling part other than something with "country" and then "dead, dead leaves last fall." and then: "dead leaves dead leaves dead leaves dead leaves seen from the back of a train I rode away from your station They drifted in the air Like memoirs of old conversations Sprung from a leather case You opened in the wind To watch the papers chase each other into oblivion. (You're such a champion, You're such a champion, I hide behind your sun, You are the champion.) x3 So you can take me to the Dragon's Lair, You can take me to Rapunzel's windowsill, either way, it is time, oh it is time... for a bigger kind of kill. A bigger kind of kill (x a lot) |

| Sunset Rubdown – Nightingale/December Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
so let me hammer this point home i see US ALL as lonely fires that have burned alive as long as we remember but like ALL fireworks and ALL sunsets, we all burn in different ways we are a FAST explosion and i am the embers and though your flames are quick and mean, they will not last the year, but expire like a sudden falling star that only nightingales had seen before, MIGRATING TO southern jungles and in this way you will come find me in december he said he'd like to move to Nashville to master the guitar where he would live a single day the way i live a single year he covered his body in mud, went hunting for the sun then went swimming in the lake of holy water oh you are too hot for me, i am too slow for you you are a FAST explosion and i'm the embers you need the one who slowly burns, and burns to stay alive and in this way you will come find me in december so let me hammer this point home i see US ALL as lonely fires that have burned alive as long as we remember but like ALL sacrificial virgins, we all burn in different ways you are a FAST explosion and i'm the embers and though your flames are quicker than me, they will not last the year, but expire like a sudden shooting star that only nightingales had seen before, transforming into bluebirds and in this way you will come find me in december such a good song. ! |

| Sunset Rubdown – Black Swan Lyrics | 16 years ago |
first 3 verses are right, the 4th verse should end with "the king of hearts" - he just says it weird. the 5th verse i think is: "there was the man who told the psychic he would have you if you could only give it up another way he has carved out an avenue you from the palace to the palisades and now he's half destroyed and you are half destroyed i said you're running down a washed out road i said you're running between, between the void" but the first 2 lines i'm not sure about. and finally, the 8th verse should be: "you've got mascara all over your bedsheets you've got mascara all over your clothes you've got mascara making broken hearted shapes on your face so you have yet to see the ghost." |

| Sunset Rubdown – Apollo and the Buffalo and Anna Anna Anna Oh! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the buffalo had given up on the world and apollo, apollo is kissing all the valley girls we climbed up the cross (?) on the mountain on new year's eve it was just God, the blizzard, the dreamweaver and me my god, i miss the way we used to be so here's a photograph for you to hold it's my picture right before i got old it's a picture of a buffalo that we rode (?) into extinction that was the crime we committed in the night apollo, i heard your sister is equated with the moon i think your sister is just another Runaround Sue i say where have you been, where have you been, Erato? where have you been, where have you been, Erato? because it's been a long time since we sat around the willow tree fire where Anna played guitar and the rest of us fell in love that was back before she changed her name did he ever find out where to her side was fame? like the days before anna changed her name well here's a photograph for you to hold it's my picture right before i got old it's a picture of a buffalo that we rode into extinction that was the crime you committed in the night that was the crime you committed in the night so here's a photograph for you to hold it's my picture right before i got old it's a picture of a prize (?) you hunter, you hunter, oh you hunter Anna, Anna, Anna, Anna, oh, why'd you change your name? i'm pretty sure about most of that. Runaround Sue is the name a song from the 60s - i'm not sure why it's there but i'm pretty sure that's right and he definitely doesn't say "fool." Erato is one of the Greek muses, and she is generally shown carrying an instrument that Apollo invented, so that makes sense. The last major change I made was "where Anna played guitar and the rest of us fell in love" instead of "we're on the flaming tower and the rest of us headed home" which I'm positive about. And then there were some pronoun changes. The only lyrics i'm not sure about are "we climbed up THE CROSS," but that seems kind of right, "that we RODE into extinction" which could be roll like you had it, but mostly "did he ever find out where to her side was fame?" which i'm positive is wrong but I have no idea what it is. |

| Andrew Bird – Effigy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's: "When you long to burn this effigy" - not "learn" |
| Regina Spektor – Ne Me Quitte Pas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
well, it's definitely "lipped-mouths," i think that's pretty clear to hear. I think it's "ballads" as well, but that one is a little harder to hear, especially because of the way she says it with the ah - "bahlluhs" |
| Regina Spektor – Prisoners Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| well, H.C. Andersen wrote the Little Mermaid, so I think that pretty well explains the mermaid tattoo reference. No one else said that, so I thought I might as well point it out. As for the rest of the song, what the rest of you said. | |
| Kanye West – Stronger Lyrics | 18 years ago |
britishkitten, daft punk said they really like what kanye did with their song and how he put a new spin on it, so out the window with your last bit there. i do, however, agree with you about what the song is about. kanye is the best sampler around. the only sample of his that im not too fond of is the overly repetative jeezy sample on can't tell me nothing. this song is not my favorite on the album by any means. after the verses its just repetative and not that good. i'm also impressed (if not a little apalled) at Kanye's knowledge of seemingly every fashion designer on the face of the planet. graduation kicks ass. |
| Kanye West – Homecoming (feat. Chris Martin) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
its about chicago like everyone else said. you pretty much have to take everything in this song literally: "it felt like they walked and drove on me" - as in cars and things "But my name is Windy, and yo, I like to blow trees" - blow trees as in the wind, not smoking pot "last winter she got so cold on me" - usually gets cold in the winter, doesn't it? gooooood song. |

| The Shins – Gone For Good Lyrics | 18 years ago |
does anyone know what the last line is of the alternate version?? he adds another line right at the end that's not on the album version, and i can't find the lyric anywhere. one of their best songs |
| The Shins – Young Pilgrims Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think anyone who can use the word 'epitaph' in a song is really really cool. i love the shins. | |
| OutKast – The Rooster Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Good song. yeah basically about his familys problems just like the other guy said | |

| parody of "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel | |
| Billy Joel – We Didn't Start the Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song was written because John Lennon's son Sean told Billy Joel that his [Billy's] generation made no history/did nothing important, and that all the history would be made in Sean's generation. Billy wrote this to prove him wrong, and it's amazing. Probably my favorite Billy Joel song. Not his best, but i think the most fun to listen to. This and Piano man... | |
