Gorillaz – Stop The Dams Lyrics 13 years ago
It's an analogy between hard drugs and destroying the environment, using drugs to stop feeling emotion and using "dams" to stop the flow of the world. Both only because it's easier.

It's a brilliant comparison. Why does everyone have to make it one or another? Damon is kinda a genius after all...

Ween – A Tear For Eddie Lyrics 16 years ago
I always assumed, due to the 70's soulful sound of the song, it was a tribute to Curtis Mayfield's Superfly and a response to the song "Eddie You Should Know Better" which is about a character Eddie dying(of course, there's a movie as well but we're talking music.)

A Tear For Eddie almost sounds to me like it belongs on that album, it was the last one on C&C for me to get into but I'm really digging it right now.

Modest Mouse – People as Places as People Lyrics 17 years ago
Definately a "life like weeds" part 2 I think.

To me, this song is talking about growing old and looking back at the goals you had set as a child and not reaching them. ALl the places you wanted to go and all the people you wanted to meet and just putting all that off until you're too old to do it and settling for less in your life, replacing those hopes with people who walked into your life, taking the easy way out basically and how much you will regret it but not realize it.

Eh, maybe I'm crazy. But that's what I get out of it.

Man Man – Spider Cider Lyrics 18 years ago
This is one of my all time favorite songs and now looking over it, it seems like it's explaining a story of two lovers who can't see each other for one reason or another and because of that are forced into depression and self-abuse.

It's also catchy as hell

Bat for Lashes – What's A Girl To Do Lyrics 18 years ago
Such a beautiful song, I've just started listening to this band and I can't get enough of this song.

Explains a specific type of heartbreak quite well

Bloc Party – Luno Lyrics 18 years ago
I always loved this song and looking at the lyrics, it seems like a drug abuse song to me about a girl who refuses help from her parents.

Specific lyrics to me;
I can heal the blind
I can cure the sick
I can say the right things
I can say the right things
Where d'you get so cruel
Where do you go
Cos you're never here

"Heal the blind, cure the sick" followed by "say the right things" seems ironic to me since "cure the blind, heal the sick" makes more sense. Basically saying this girls parents will try to do whatever they can to help her but no matter what, it seems to make their relationship worse. This leads to her parents becoming upset with her(ie where d'you get so cruel)

Sorry if that's a little repetitive

Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics 18 years ago
Incorrect lyrics(as if no one had said that)

I always thought of this as how humans abuse nature. More so the ocean and those who defend it, how they feel ashamed and don't want to be related whatsoever to the humans who abuse nature, almost as if they want to devolve.
