| Mew – Apocalypso Lyrics | 17 years ago |
weird that you argue about the lyrics when they're in the album booklet the whole time, you should assume those ones to be correct. I like the idea that some of the lyrics don't even make sense to him because they come to him in his dreams. I think that's cool. |
| Cansei de Ser Sexy – Art Bitch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| reminds me of Art Star by YYY's | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Art Star Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| similar in meaning to Art Bitch by CSS. screams are ttly sexy btw | |
| Björk – Declare Independence Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| gee guys i wonder what this song's about^_^ | |
| Radiohead – A Wolf at the Door (It Girl. Rag Doll) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| definitely a wolf howl at the end. | |
| Sigur Rós – Ára Bátur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song is god like. no idea what it means but its my favourite song of 2008 so far | |
| Delays – Out of Nowhere Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| they are so good at making really uplifting songs.... like this one | |
| Cansei de Ser Sexy – Rat is Dead (Rage) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its fully random and i don't know what its about, but its cool as hell and yes, new album, will be great |
| Cansei de Ser Sexy – Music Is My Hot Hot Sex Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| haha i'm also bitter about it cos the rest of the world has stolen css away from us......... but what can you do ryt? | |
| Radiohead – Reckoner Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i think i know what you mean. I always get the feeling thom is trying to talk about all the crap going on everywhere in the world and this general sense of melee what with politics and natural disasters and social discrimination etc. there just seems to be something going wrong everywhere. And then i feel like he's saying in this song that even when the world is turning to crap you can never be alone because the human race is all in it together..... but that's probably just me | |
| Goldfrapp – A&E Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| just because drugs are mentioned doesn't mean the songs about drugs necessarily. pills are also frequently used metaphorically. Also i doubt Goldfrapp would make a song about suicide. That just doesn't fit | |
| Portishead – The Rip Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| wow. didnt even think about the heroin connection but you could be onto sumthing thr | |
| Delays – Valentine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
They do seem to talk about Katrina a bit in their music...... but i can see how this one wouldn't be a reference to it..... You And Me maybe..... this band deserves so much more recognition than they're getting. btw deltasunlight, you're a loser |
| Delays – You and Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| ilove the optimism of this song, and the delays in general. Many bands seem to be so pessimistic these days, especially alt/indie bands. So many people would love this band if only they knew they existed.... | |
| Radiohead – 2 + 2 = 5 (The Lukewarm) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think we can draw the conclusion that there is NO WAY this song is not alluding to 1984.... a great novel IMO I love how the song goes awesome at 2:25 and that radiohead would've not planned that but planned it at the same time because the song runs through seemlessly..... |
| Radiohead – Let Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
um...ok...lol i just want to say.....the ending of this song.... holy fuck.... I can't believe there was a time when I did not know radiohead existed (!) and were not listening to them... seems like a waste of life almost. But this song, as well as many others, has more than made up for that. |
| Deftones – Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'll be one of the many to say.... yes this song is amazing. But trust me, the acoustic version on B sides n Rarities makes it so million times better!!! Like gives it new meaning n stuff I would've probably paid thirty bux just for that song..... but I'm happy with the whole compilation haha |
| Le Tigre – T.K.O. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
do you think it's got anything to do with feminism?? like, how empowerment of women was a "TKO" because a lot of it was the media sensationalising the movement...... ??? and how "taking over the dance floor" is kinda a metaphor? I think I'm reading too much into the song, which is sad cos I wanna put it in my anthropology assignment..... but the video is full of great stuff for that if the lyrics aren't. |
| Bikini Kill – Rebel Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ApplesInMono, I wouldn't say the lyrics were wrong, but it has been discussed that there's more than one version of the song good song. I think it's meant to be a little sarcastic. At least not meant to be taken seriously. But promoting the whole "revolution" idea is obviously very Bikini Kill.... I have to write about this song, and Double Dare Ya, for my anthropology assignment. That's kinda cool |
| Arcade Fire – Windowsill Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is sooooooooo goooooood haha thats my really helpful comment |
| Arcade Fire – Crown of Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
All I know is that this is my fav Arcade Fire song and has been ever since I got into them.... but i dunno, that myt be changing now.... |
| Arcade Fire – Virgin Mary Highway Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeh except cold wind is NOTHING compared to this song WHY HAS NOONE COMMENTED HERE!!! This is one of my fav AF songs ever! It's just that whole AF magical effect... they can turn any song into a religious experience, and for me this one is up there with the rest |
| Arcade Fire – Neon Bible Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I wasn't too keen on this song until i saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjxef8AfVQg Now I can't get enough of it. The Arcade Fire are life-affirmingly brilliant. I'm in love |
| Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thats silly. ignore the "olsen twins idea" and you have to ignore half the lyrics as well for it to even make sense. i love how he always sounds drunk when he's singing |
| Goldenhorse – Riverhead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
best Goldehorse song EVER. I have to say that Reporter, the new album, is rather disappointing |
| Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, either you don't like muse, or you have a lame sense of humour.... either way you're starting to annoy me =) |
| Placebo – Spite and Malice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| still my fav placebo song, probably tied with nancy boy or slave to the wage... or space monkey | |
| Deftones – Combat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the lyrics are in the album cover booklet. which should guarantee their accuracy if you ask me great song.... the "who'se side are you on" always reminds me of the "decide" bit in Rats!Rats!Rats! and I'm not really sure why |
| Joss Stone – I Fell in love with a Boy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
haha that's funny and I believe the person who commented on Celine Dion has a good point. I am a huge White Stripes fan so by default I like the original better, but I also approve of this cover. It allows for a different interpretation of the song. It's much more smooth, more sexy than cool, more romantic... it's not completely ruined in that respect |
| The White Stripes – I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I would feel extremely dumb if sum1 proved me wrong when i said.... it's 4/4 time isn't it??? anyhow, this song is the only reason kate moss still has my respect. And The White Stripes are the best band ever!!!! (tied with muse...) this cover far exceeds the original in every way, especially because of the much darker undertone it seems to have. It's meaning is bluntly obvious, it's kinda the point of the song, wouldn't you say? Like when the relationship ends nothing matters other than you trying to move on and still having to get over that person you used to be with all the time. And quite simply, you just don't know what to do about it. The climax of the song rocks. Effortlessly cool. |
| Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Underoath oooooooooooh you're cool aren't you | |
| Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yeah that was slightly random.... I wonder what "amazing" bands you like then.... | |
| Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| And I apologise to any Muse fan who didn't need to hear that.... lol.... cos us Muse fanatics rule!!!! | |
| Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I have to say I was pretty darn sure Muse are atheists. But there's no denying this song talks about religion. And you don't have to be religious to talk about religion, obviously. I'm not sure about them being atheists anymore, Chris doesn't seem to dismiss religion here: If you could ask God, or whatever higher power takes your fancy, one question, what would it be? 'I'd probably ask if there's life after death. It's quite depressing but I think everyone thinks about it at some point. Some people just think you die and that's it, it would just be really interesting to know what actually happens.' anyway The use of "biblical" here does mean a big event, there's just no other way to interpret that. "declare a sense of urgency" Notice it says a SENSE of urgency. This line for me confirms more than any other part of the song that it is about those people who idolise their God, or whatever god, to the point where one day the world might force itself into apocalypse. More than anything else, wars have been about religion. Why would that ever change? Its simply gonna get worse. I've gone to a religious school for 7 years. I hadn't thought about religion before i started. I tried on Christianity, i guess to see if my logical thinking would lead me to either have faith or not have faith. I guess from the start I was destined to be an atheist. To challenge the logic of religion, I may as well have been an atheist all along. The very nature of faith is to defy logic. That's something I could never do. By the way, I really fucking hate people who get preachy about God. The reverend at school is always forcing it on me knowing full well I'm an atheist. I wish he'd shut up. Believe what you want. But leave me out of it. You realise that to atheists, Christians sound fucking insane right? Nothing in the mind of an atheist allows for the kind of speculation about the origins of existence that a Christian would have to go through to come to the conclusion that God exists. And nothing you can say is gonna change that. So just shut up. You really fucking piss me off. |
| Björk – Pluto Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hehe matt bellamy love this song. and again i agree with pretty much every comment to do with death and rebirth. ties in nicely to All Is Full Of Love. |
| Björk – Declare Independence Lyrics | 18 years ago |
hehe indeed. I was gonna write something along the lines of th1nk4y0urself. Because it features very general lyrics I tend to turn to the feeling, the essence of the song. Which is very rebellious. And it does also allow it to become more malleable to the lives of anyone who listens to it. Amazing song =) |
| Björk – My Juvenile Lyrics | 18 years ago |
definitely. The song makes more sense if she's talking to her own youth. "this is an offer to better the last let-go" |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Pin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
actually now i think of it, it could be onomatopoeic for a very specific kind of movement.... if ya know what i mean bom bom bom bom bom bom bom bom |
| Cansei de Ser Sexy – I Wanna Be Your J Lo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
do you think CSS know of the ramones? If so the title could be referring to their song I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend. Just like sleater-kinney's I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone |
| Kings of Leon – Arizona Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| cool. and yeh i kinda see what you mean | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Pin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I wonder what the chorus means? lmao. hella catchy song |
| Nine Inch Nails – Wish Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and the two words in this song, FIST FUCK, just make it so much cooler than it already was...teehee | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Wish Lyrics | 18 years ago |
OK can I just say a big FUCK YOU to the person who suggested you can't be a real NIN fan unless you've taken drugs and been through that experience. What utter bullshit. My friend James idolises NIN, he's just turned 18 and he's completely clean. Because he's not stupid enough to do drugs.... and I'm sorry if you are that stupid. Because it's FUCKING STUPID. IF anything, listening to NIN only reinforces that drugs will completely fuck you up. Now that I've said that.... Wish is the most amazing song. All I'm gonna say is that it could only ever act as a warning against drugs. The lyrics are so blatantly obvious in that respect. |
| Sleater-Kinney – Youth Decay Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I like this song. Tis catchy as hell. And I like learning about song meanings on this site. But I have to say I'm pretty useless at interpreting them myself =) | |
| Deftones – Pink Cellphone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| hehe we're awesome!!! lol | |
| Muse – Citizen Erased Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song COULD be about rape... but it also could be about the idea someone else suggested to do with the influences closing in on you from birth, the desire to go back to the pure state in which we were born. I mean, both meanings could run simultaneously. But it doesn't matter what it means. It could be about Burger King and it would still be one of the best songs ever. |
| The White Stripes – Take, Take, Take Lyrics | 18 years ago |
aawwww I wanted to write my interpretation of the song but i may as well just copy and paste everything you guys just wrote. It's one of my fav songs on the album. It's was a weird direction for the duo but I'm glad they did it. I never once said "this album's too weird for them" or criticised it for that. Because TWS always know what they're doing. haha |
| Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood. (Your Time Is Up.) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song creeps me out....it's fantastic.... the slow clap is really disturbing in a way I'm not gonna try to decipher it though because I'm a brand new Radiohead fan and know absolutely nothing about them/Thom so would really have no idea what it's about and what it's taken them to get to this point.... |
| Bloc Party – SRXT Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Hugely disappointed was maybe the wrong way to put it...... i realize that I have to accept the fact that their style's gonna change, and it's not like I wish it was a copy of Silent Alarm..... but I bought this album a long time ago, when it was a new release and listened to it a couple of times, then got bored... maybe i need to go back and listen to the whole thing | |
| Bloc Party – SRXT Lyrics | 18 years ago |
OMG tell me about it I was hugely disappointed. Like 3 or 4 good songs on this album at most. And this is one of them. Although I didn't realize that until I was blasting my ipod on shuffle yesterday and this came on. Bloody fantastic And yes, I agree, Eugene is extremely random. I'm glad I finally know who it is |
