To me it feels like this boy, who is singing, is in love with someone he recently met. But they are actually both in a long-term relationship already. This makes it very hard to speak of their love for one another. They know that their current relationships are just dillusional, especcially the girl's one, but it is hard to break-up. line by line: What is love but the strangest of feelings? I don't know if she is talking to god... I ask myself: why is the song called 'Irvine'? and the line: 'Your love, a complete mystery to me' maybe it's about a person who she really loves and she can't forget him. He left her, not for someone else just because he couldn't stay with her... he loves her, but he just couldn't be with her. are you there? are you watching me? maybe she's watching at the moon and she hopes he looks at it too at the same time and thinks about her... nvm probably totally wrong... it's just a great song, something totally not-Kelly, but still... Kelly at her best! |

I heard this song for the first time upon seeing the trailer of Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft's upcoming top franchise-game). And I was astonished. Not only by the game but by the song that was used. Unkle - Lonely soul. I keep thinking about its meaning... I think it's something about a person who wants to be different from others. This community we live in, this consumption... it makes us some sort of zombie, we just follow what is fed to us. And I think this person really wants to get loose from all of this. He wants to live his life. And these lonely souls are the people that are still in that consumption... those who are not free... you can compare it to a mix of Matrix and Plato. that's just my interpretation of the song, it may be farfetched but anyhow... |
