| Bruce Springsteen – Backstreets Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| And i've been mulling over on this a bit more. Could it be that he hates him when Uncle Sam comes and takes Terry away? or maybe just 'cos Terry moves with his folks (him being Terry's dad). It seems clear to me that this is a song about a boy's life - bit like Stand By Me. I think someone already mentioned that and it certainly rings true with me. Regardless, this is simply one of the strongest and most poignant songs ever recorded. I think maybe particulary from a male perspective. | |

| my god 732, what a load of pretentious wank. | |
| Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is about the frustration of not being good enough for the girl that he desires. We all know the feeling - that absolute desire for the girl of our dreams and the frustration and anger knowing she will never take a second look at us and the slow realisation that it is all superficial anyway "i want a perfect body, i want a perfect soul, i want u to notice..." this is all cynical stuff, like he realises it is all pretentious, superficial crap but that doesn't change the desire he has for this girl. | |

Love this song. Love the line "I hope that god exists, i hope, i pray" think about it, beautiful line!! Saw these guys in concert at Alton Towers in '91. Tim apologised for his voice at the end, but noone knew he was off key 'cos all we heard all concert was ourselves singing! One of those magical few hours of my life. Mind you, i also recall trying to get out of Alton Towers after the concert! |

| The Chicks – Not Ready To Make Nice Lyrics | 18 years ago |

All they said was that they were ashamed to be from the same state as Bush. The result was just bullshit and anyone that defends the reaction to that statement needs to have a good hard think about what living in the land of the free really means. Remember, same time Iraq was denying any weapons of mass destruction was the same time North Korea was waving the flag saying they had nuclear weapons. Only one of them had oil though....(and check out Halliburton's list of employees/benefactors)..... But this is a song site and the anger in the chick's response resonates strong and true. Heard them sing this live and the passion lives on. Beautiful song. |

| Pink Floyd – Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the title is a reference to the stupidity of it all. Desert being a desolate wasteland, of no use to anyone. Keep your filthy hands off being a nationalist rage that someone dare try to take my desert. Useless to me, but mine all the same damn ya! Waters' dad died in WWII, this event formed his feeling towards war in general and the likes of the Falklands war when young lives were again lost for what was no more than a pissing contest over a remote island community really got him going. And trust me, I was in the uk at the time and NOONE had heard of the Falklands until the Argentines landed! | |

I always got the feeling that Terry was a guy. Whatever, the lines: "..at night sometimes it seemed You could hear the whole damn city crying blame it on the lies that killed us Blame it on the truth that ran us down you can blame it all on me Terry It don't matter to me now when the breakdown hit at midnight There was nothing left to say but I hated him and I hated you when you went away." just resonate so deeply. Dunno what it is, but I often just play that over and over again; so angry, so hurt, so heartfelt. Thirty years on and the pain feels just as real. |
