Usher – Love in This Club Lyrics 17 years ago
I see nobody is bothering to really seek meaning in the lyrics. Not really surprisingly considering it's a talentless, vulgar load of nonsense performed by some idiotic coloured arsehole.

Yes, go ahead - 'make love' like a fucking animal... that's not remotely uncivilised or unworthy of a human being. This "Usher" is a disgusting creature.

Belle & Sebastian – Jonathan David Lyrics 18 years ago
Incidental to the main point, but "Jonathan David" is a rather odd way of putting the title (no "and" etc) - a possible reference to Stuart David, the bassist?

I've always got the impression that the song is about two sides to the one personality, or even one being the public face and one being the abyss you hit sometimes (the 'crashed his car in the rain' line - when it's pushed over) and always fear you'll fall into permanently.

Just my uninformed supposition.

The Libertines – Albion Lyrics 18 years ago
Correcting the blindingly obvious--

- Albion isn't Latin for anything. It's admittedly classically used, but it was apparently the British people's own name for the island.

- It wasn't written while Pete was in the Libertines, but beforehand. As it's only been recorded with Babyshambles, then they have a better claim to it than the Libs - but ultimately it's a Peter Doherty song.

Anyway, I think it's a pleasant contrast between idealism and reality in Britain. There's a certain affection to it. Personally I think it's about a longing for home more than anything.
