| The Presets – Talk Like That Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i thought it was "tough cheese" as in bad luck. | |
| José González – Killing for Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I always felt it was about religion. people have always done terrible things for the love of their God. | |
| José González – The Nest Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I always felt like it's about someone being so concerned by their own lives that they walk all over, or destroy those around them for their own advancement. "On alert for any lingering threats. Building frantically without rest." seems to be this concern about building up a life that you believe you should have, a building up a sense of safety. and "Darkness fell wiped out a once joyous tone. Then famished, like possessed ended up eating their own." is when something doesn't go their way, they don't feel that safety they use others and bleed them dry to protect themselves. I guess the repetition of the first verse could be starting the cycle of bulding up your life again. I always thought of it on a personal level, but traces23, i like the nationalism idea too. I guess it can be a similar situation. This is probably my favourite from the album. seems underrated on here though, which is a shame. |

| MGMT – Weekend Wars Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with sgr7447. I think it's about how life isn't simple anymore. We've got so much around us that we don't really have to think or feel anything. I get a lot of that sort of vibe from MGMT, like in time to pretend where they sing "i miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone". I think this song is about longing for a simpler life. | |
| The Presets – Yippiyo-Ay Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I heard the guy from the presets say that he used this song to put the lines he'd never found a place for in any other song. | |
| The Presets – Yippiyo-Ay Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I heard the guy from the presets say that he used this song to put the lines he'd never found a place for in any other song. | |
| MGMT – Time to Pretend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| u2dy11, i agree, this song is completely ironic. I don't think any of these things at all. It's pretty much saying that the only time our life is pure is when we are children, then we get tainted by notions of fame money or beauty. | |
| Gyroscope – Snakeskin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| wow bazal, awesome interpretation. I couldn't really guess what this song is about, but Gyro are definately back to Sound Shattering Sound standards, Are you involved was good, but no where near as good as sound shattering sound. who's hear 1981, Incredible. Loving Gyroscope L:D | |
| After the Fall – The Longest Hour Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is about feeling not knowing who you are and feeling lost. One of the highlights of the album I think. | |
| At the Drive-In – Catacombs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's about a failed relationship that someone's trying to hold on to, and the other just wants to let go of "hey you would you ever attempt the excavation of these fossils/ and in case you haven't noticed, we're already dead/" I agree with Shifting_Citadel's interpretation of "pendulum swing through tantrum slits/ this scapel's glaze untamed won't feel romantic/" that their waiting for something and time is slowly passing. the quadraplegic horse and carriage could refer to something that doesn't really work. I mean how can a quadraplegic horse pull a carriage? it can't happen. so what they're waiting for - the fixing of the relationship- can't happen. "it's alreading dead" i'm not sure what the first verse means yet. I like the trojan horse interpretation, it makes a lot of sense. but this what the song means to me. "what's that sound?/ caskets floating/" it think that this line is a reitteration of the fact it's already dead. i wonder if ex-ATDI members ever read this and laugh at how wrong we all are lol. |
|
| The Jimi Hendrix Experience – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| so what you're all basically saying is that this song is about phildelphia eagles, defending his lyrics, and albertus being a prick. thanks, it's all so clear. woohoo. I'm glad i wasted my life reading that. | |
| The Clash – Rudie Can't Fail Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I didn't think like a doctor born for a purpose was for a singer or whatever. I thought they were talking about they don't believe they have a destiny or a specific job to do, "they cant live in service." THey don't want to spend their lives looking after other people. Kind of young and naive outlook. but that's waht i think this song is about. Everyone's gotten so carried away with the "is it ska, did reggae come from ska or vice versa" argument that you're not really looking at the lyrics anymore. It's about living the life you want to, and not caring what the old farts on the bus say about you. | |
| The Clash – Hateful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
for such a happy and upbeast song that's so fun to sing and dance like crazy to. it is so sad. It presents the reality of drug addiction... "i've lost all my friends...i ain't even noticed" and "I've lost all my nerves." shows the toll that drugs take on people physically and socially. "and i'm so grateful, to be nowhere." is a greatline too. it makes me feel sorry for drug addicts. It's sad how he refers to his dealer as his "friend", it kind of says that he's got no one else left. |
|
| The Clash – The Card Cheat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| definately not a throwaway. no one agrees there lol. but i agree with what you say about the songs meaning. | |
| The Jam – Little Boy Soldiers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love the end of this song, it really drives the reality of war home. awesome :D | |
| The Jam – Town Called Malice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yeah we know LolaBat, but the song introduced the jam to a whole new generation. So billy elliot is an important part of the songs history. I wasn't even born when this song was written. You've got hear it the for the first time somewhere, and it's not like the jam are played in abundance on australian radio. I love The Jam because they tell it like it was, is and probably always will be. Little Boy Soldiers kicks arse :D | |
| The Jam – The Eton Rifles Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I definately think you're right Mojo Working. He realised they're not weak physically, but also that he's no match for the power that comes with being elite. | |
| Ramones – I Don't Want to Live This Life (Anymore) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yeah Marx is definately right. Makes me cry too! poor sid. Especially when joey sings: "Oh, my sweet darling what have I done". I thought love kills was a joe strummer song.. but i'm crazy so who knows where i got that theory from lol. |
|
| Kisschasy – Black Dress Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yeah I heard Darren say it was about a dream at JBHIFI too! that was awesome. I love this song. It's so beautiful | |
| The Mars Volta – Televators Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure I read in the storybook that the lines is "a room coloured charlatan hid in the safe" | |
| After the Fall – Raise the Dust Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
you're so right luke_g! I don't know if "break the restraints" means they've borken up, I think it's more they've hit a bump in their relationship that they can never get past, it will always be there, whether in the foregorund or background. All I know is it's a great road song, where you're just cruising up the highway, and forgeting all the sh*t thats going on back home. I love it. |
|
| After the Fall – Concrete Boots Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think its about being oppressed by societies constraints of normal and acceptable, it's someone wanting to break out of the mould because he's drowning in the mediocrity of society, but he can't. Maybe he's afraid, maybe he's just being beaten down by the "normal people." whose faces are "painted white, just to keep the inside out of his sight." I think this line symbolises isolation, feeling different from everyone around him. Like normality is a club he's never allowed to join. Amazing song :D |
|
| After the Fall – Angel Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this is about being burned by love, so you lose faith in your ability to find it and feel it again. I think the last bit "you'd whisper words into my ears.. etc" is about trying to fill the void with an ideal, but they're not real- "not breathing"- it's hard to have any faith that love is real. he wants to find someone who'll make him feel alive again. thats just how i take it, I'm probably wrong. |
|
| After the Fall – Absentee Without Leave Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| no I think you're right. I think it's about someone who is so afraid of who they are they try to be just like anybody else- even "the next passerby." They'll do anything so long as they're not alone, not isolated. That's why this song has so much meaning, everyone has seen it happen, so many have had it happen to them. sad truth about the human race i guess. | |
| Gyroscope – 22 of 3 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| nah i'm pretty sure it is hock it in. I read what it was somewhere. I'm pretty sure it means the twenty-second of march. MAybe it was written on that day or something I've forgotten why. | |
| Gyroscope – Hollow Like Cheyenne Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song made me cry, i never understood why. I can't really figure out what it's about but it hits a never everytime. I think it's about finally breaking free of someone, or at least resolving to try. I always thought it was ever noticed how our worlds have change.. but i dunno, I'm pretty good at mishearing lyrics. I should look in the book i guess lol. | |
| Gyroscope – Midnight Express Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i find it hard to compare gyroscope with my chemical romance, they up a level if you ask me.. but hey, i'm a music snob. This song is my absolute favourite! I discovered gyroscope with this song. I was addicted to it for the whole year until the album came out. just in time for my birthday :D I'm not really sure what it's about, all i know is i love it! | |
| The Mars Volta – Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Dose anyone agree that this song is the best last song on an album EVER!? "Who brought me here Forsaken, depraved and wrought with fear Who turned it off The last thing I remember now Who brought me here" then just left to resonate in silence, it's so chilling. I love it. |
|
| Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should've Come Over Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
listening to this song got me through a sh*t relationship. where my stupid love wouldn't come over. It was just a waste of time, we weren't ready for it, we hadn't put all our hearts into it. "too young to hold on, too old to just break free and run." is definately a reference to feeling trapped in the relationship. |
|
| Jeff Buckley – Grace Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I don't think it's about suicide. It's about knowing you're going to die and accepting it. but feeling sorrow for the ones you love.. the ones you will "leave behind." it's so beautiful. And so haunting how he says.. "I feel them drown my name." one of a few drowning referneces by Jeff. *shivers* |
|
| Muse – Bliss Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I wish someone would sing this to me :( lol | |
| Muse – Map of Your Head Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
" saw a liquid controlled that gives life to a soul" I think this is about alcohol "I hit my head on it and woke up to know that i was all alone wearing just socks and a phone" the next day, after too much alcohol.. get the whole where the f** am i and what did i do, vibe from it. So wake up like that, then have some superficial person whining to you and asking you how you are and just going on and on.. haha.. the rest of it is like that to me, you just crack the sh*ts and tell them "i don't need another map of your head". I always took the woooohs in the breaks in verses to be a continuation of blocking out the other person. I love this song, it always seemed kind of bratty to me, if you know what I mean. sort of a 'lalala i'm not listening' song. |
|
| Muse – The Small Print Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song contains my favourite lyric ever: "I'm the priest god never paid." there's something so psychotic about it. I love it. I am another person who agrees with erods interpretation. that's pretty cool. |
|
| Muse – Shine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and PisH! I thought the same thing about the lyrics. | |
| Muse – Shine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I always felt it was about growing up with people from childhood. It sort of makes me sad, because i'm in a transitional stage right now, where i don't see the people i've grown up with since 5 years of age everyday anymore, this song makes me think about that. makes me nostalgic for all the times we spent, when we "had no fear, or sense of time." | |
| Muse – You Fucking Motherfucker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh btw absolution princess can you write my media studies essay for me, cos that would kick arse! | |
| Muse – You Fucking Motherfucker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
hahaha absolution princess, that interpretation is brilliant, you're so deep. hahahahaha to this song too!! made m laugh out loud for the first time today.. 11:56pm. |
|
| Muse – Fillip Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| meant bass btw whoops. | |
| Muse – Fillip Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
there's such thing as bisexuality. just a statement, no interpretation to this song at all. all i want to say is the base in this song KICKS ARSE! 'scuse the language. Chris Wolstenholme and Domonic Howard are underrated. Sure Matthew Bellamy is amazing and a pseudo-god but so are the other two! |
|
| Muse – Falling Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
no no,so don't think this is about suuicide at all. I think the people who say its about their small town are right. Suicide doesn't seem to be muse's style. "No one is going to save this town" to me seems to mean that they're all stuck in their ways, in the way you assume a small town would be. They had no time for something new or experimental so the ignored what muse were doing, and now that "15000 peope scream" when muse play the town is all of a sudden interested, but as they state so bluntly it's "too late". I dunno, just a thought, but maybe falling down, particularly in reference to the end where they're heading straight for the clouds, gives the feeling that what they were doing was disapproved of, and now their heading to the top, they're famous. so up yours to the small town lol. I love the way bellamy sounds when he screams "noooo" towards the end, it's so raw and full of emotion. love this song. |
|
| Muse – Escape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I don't think it's a split personality as such. haven't you ever had an experience where you didn't agree with what you were doing to someone? and you were in a constant battle to justify or stop your actions? I'm pretty sure I have. That's what I thought it was, not mental disorder, just guilt eating away. I didn't know about his dad, i guess that maks a lot of sense. I can just relate to it more with other interpretation.. cos my dad loves my mum.. and i'm a bad girlfriend/person lol. |
|
| Muse – Citizen Erased Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i always got the 1984 feeling from listening to it. Although the rape idea makes sense. I don't think the last bit is about the victim wanting to be forgotten by the person they're addressing though. I think it's more a reference to their attacker. "wash me away clean your body of me, erase all the memories, they will only bring us pain." Either waythis song has always had a profound emotional effect on me. |
|
| At the Drive-In – Invalid Litter Dept. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think that the line nails "broke and fell" really draws attention to the brutality of it all. It gives me images of dirty fingernailsgripping on for life then breakig and let go. I never understood it before reading all of this, i just knew i loved it, I'm glad i get it now. it means so much to me now. | |
