And weather this is as a drug-addict, a husband who always is on business trips, not coming out of the closet, life at work.. whatever it means to you. That's the beauty of music, people. This is certainly BCR's best song. And one of my favorite songs. My own interpretation of this song is a couple starting a long-distance relationship, without seeing a warning of it. At least; that's what it means to me since I can relate to every word of it. "there's someone out there who feels just like me. there is." is him and his girlfriend/fiancee feeling equally lonely. This song is so beautiful. I absolutely love this song, and I don't think it has to do with a direct abuse of drugs. "China white" means heroine, heroine is a deadly, strong drug just like this song. I do like the fact that it might be inspired from the Great Gatsby, as that story really facinates me. And it certainly would make sense. However, before reading all the comments I always thought it was about a twisted, tragic love story. A man loving a woman he couldn't have, for her either being married or (like in Great Gatsby) of a 'higher class' and their love is simply not accepted by society. If this was the case, gardner would refer to someone who's in a lower class. "The old man and his son They have been studying your moves" could refer to the woman's enemies. "You will see me in the news" he might have killed these enemies to protect the woman. I have no idea, but I like the mystic wonder. |
