I agree with the prior interpretations... to an extent. However, the last verse of the song, I don't think he's asking her to make her choice. On the contrary, I think he is thinking to himself that now its time for him to make a choce.. but all he wants to hear is her voice. In other words, he knows she's not coming to her senses and he knows he shouldn't wait for her to wake up and come around to what she's missing. So now is HIS time to make HIS choice.. but again she's all he wants.ya dig? |

| Alkaline Trio – You've Got So Far To Go Lyrics

Sounds to me like it's about a guy who instantly falls in love with a girl. Then, at the end of their first night they met he wants to 'kiss her so hard' because he is so much in love with her already. But then he realizes she has a far way to go before she feels the same for him, as it is only their first night meeting. |

The lines "Don't despair this world of toil and care.
This pilgrim lost his way.", to me, say not to lose your head over the way things are looking, we've just wandered down the wrong path and will eventually get back on course. |

It is 'brought fresh from the autoclave.'
An autoclave is something used to sterilize things at a high steam temperature, so the knife would still be read hot. |

The first verse seems to be talking about Adam. Who, according to the Bible, was the first man on Earth. It says he was banished with his loot, as God threw him out of the Garden of Eden after eating the fruit from the Forbidden Tree. God put up a gate to lock him out of the Garden of Eden, and locked it with a flaming omnidirectional sword. |

I think in the second chorus it is "remember how the fate of failure makes it all clear." I could be wrong, but that is what I am hearing. |

The last line of verse two is "the dreams that hound you."
Horatio Alger was an author who wrote stories about people turn their lives around from being poor to rich. |

In the second verse, it is supposed to be "scarce or shy." Looks like you missed a letter there.
Also, in the last chorus it changes to "and it seems as though I can't remember anything anymore!" |

It is "But the saddest thing of all eludes discovery."
There are also minor mistakes such as "dig around THE cemetery, instead of a cemetery." |

Maybe the whole 'dropped the world' thing has to with dropping drugs, as in dropped acid. |

This song is the devil talking to god. He's saying how unfair what god did to him is. Humans do something wrong and humans get forgiven, he did one thing wrong and was damned to hell. |
