| no, I understand the lyrics (and agree with a lot of it). I just don't think they're that good, they could be a lot tighter. I also feel like they're not being sung with any emotion. I realize Otep's always done the 'rap-rock' thing on other songs, and it usually works, but here it just sounds like she's lacking any feeling and driving force behind it. Sorry. I do like 'Rise Rebel Resist' though, so maybe. | |

I really don't like this... it sounds like she just came up with a bunch of somewhat catchy, halfhearted one- and two-liners and threw them together. Her voice kinds sounds like shit now after almost ten years of screaming. You can hear how different it sounds from the spoken parts of Sevas Tra, and even House of Secrets. And it kind of irks me how she tells her listeners to "think for themselves" and crap, then floods them with propaganda promoting what she personally supports... Sorry, didn't mean to shit on Otep there, I guess I'm being pretty cynical. "SMASH THE CONTROL MACHINE work buy consume die" - yeah Otep, I'll take that advice, definitely NOT paying for this CD. I'll download this one thankyouverymuch! |

i think this song is saying that we're living in a violent world, and its pretty damn hard NOT to live without getting involved in it in one way or another. whether you're beating your wife, fighting to survive on the streets, or watching and hearing about it all on the news, everyone is affected by the violence somehow. also, the title and the chorus tell that the violence is NEEDED, either because its now considered 'normal' or because its what people want to hear about (look at tool's song 'vicarious' for the same view). |

does anyone else hearnhim saying "welcome home" in the background? that makes it feel like whatever war is going on is coming to an end. and the first time I listened to this cd, when I heard "Strip the Soul" I thought the cd had somehow repeated this track. they just sound so alike, I can definately see them as having been once one track. if that were the case, I'd definately have to go with the blood alcohol/ internal conflict theory. |

this song always reminds me of when i had major surgery and the painkillers i was on gave me the most horrible nightmares i've ever had. what was worse was that i was so out of it, i couldn't remember what was a dream and what had really happened. i was so convinced one of the nurses was trying to kill me, i'd start screaming and crying whenever she was in the room until she left and a diferent nurse came in. that was such a bad week... four years later and i still have nightmares about it. |

this song makes me smile everytime i hear it =] it was one of the first ICP songs i heard, and thats the meaning it has for me. seriously, CarouselOfPictures and all you other people who have nothing lyric-related to say, no one wants to hear it. a lot of icp songs actually DO have meaning, a lot of it, and a lot more than most other rap artists, or artists of any genre do for that matter. sorry if you feel that simple, fun songs are "meaningless". we'll listen to what we like and stand by our bands, whether you like them or not. something tells me i must kill you :D |

the video reminds me of zombie/ super-disease/ post-apocalypse movies. like dawn of the dead, 28 days later, the stand, etc. everyone’s watching the news, scared about the impending & quickly spreading threat. they pack up all their stuff and speed off, but of course everyone else had the same idea and there’s huge traffic jams of people trying to get out of the city. and then there’s the people who just abandon their cars in the whole mess and haul ass down the road, trying to escape then in the end whatever the threat was catches up to everyone evacuating and kills just about everyone, except those who are immune/ are able to fend it off. but that’s just what i think of when i see this, and the only way i see it relating to the song lyrically is it being about the ones who survive, somehow different from the others (the ones who died) in their post-apocalyptic world. "Tell me lover what will become of the other? [[will both survive? will one have to live in this dead new world without the other?]] Bones, skin, nails, and flesh… [[all things that could be affected by, what usually is, a disease of sorts]]" "They bury you with all their talk of how you're not their kind [[before the threat somes, there could have been something else setting the characters apart from everyone else; foreshadowing death]]" "Subsequentially it seems you deserve more than me. They bury you while wearing garments of funeral fire. [[the woman has died, probably after both survived the threat, possibly at the hands of another survivor, and the man envies her because she doesn't have to suffer through the world he now has to face alone]] Now I am stealing her body and taking it home. [[not wanting to be alone, he takes her body]] ...There is always one more fault. [[possibly does something bad with it sexually out of longing and lonliness]]" "This will hurt you, it’s killing me...
