am I the only one who got the special edition with the dvd? in the dvd petrucci explains what the song is about... lol i cant actually remember exactly what the story was but those of you on the whole "drowning woman" track are there. Something about how a woman is saved from drowning by a stranger who subsequently dies... she cant forgive herself for causing a guy to die... hes watching over her from the 'other side' and falls for her. ....something like that, youd have to check the dvd cos i really dont remember. |

I think people read too much into tool lyrics.... people try to refer them back to specific situations or events, when I think they are meant to be taken more generally and can be interpreted in many different ways, so there really is no specific right or wrong. So in Cold and Ugly, forget rape, forget domestic violence, forget teen image... I think its generally about a girl who is fine and normal on the outside, but inside shes terrified of the world and who she is, she tries to block it out and hide it from others because shes afraid of their reactions. And yeah, i think Maynard is just saying that we are all like that, to varying degrees. |
