Here is what I get out of the song....guilty thee makes much more sense in context I guess by the bloodstain of your lips And the wander of your fingertips I should prove true to my emptyness And stay here Well I’m just a kid of ill repute But the skin I wear is my only suit.. And you you’re just a substitute For the one that I hold dear You know you could be anyone God forgive my tasteless tongue I never should have been set free I carve my eyes, I skin my face And beg some how to be replaced That’s how we deal with boys like me I guess by this world so sick with loss And your services so free of cost I should climb down of my rugged cross And lay with you But you know by now it’s half past late And I only came here for escape You, you’re just my next mistake Like me to you You know you could be anyone God forgive your unborn sons I hope they don’t end up like me I drag my mind through streets of shame Blame myself, forgive the game That’s how we deal with boys like me But despite what you’ve been told I once had a soul Left somewhere behind A former friend of mine And I hate to speak so free But you mean nothing to me So if the streetlights they shine bright I’ll be home tonight I guess by the dim light in your eyes And that to you all things come as a surprise I should set the steel trap of your thighs And dive right in But to you I’m just a confused child Insecure or in denial Go raise your robes, go have your trial I’ll let you in You know I could be anyone God forgive what I should have done My thoughts enough to guilty thee And yes, I guess I made this bed But i’ll take the sidewalk instead That’s how we deal with boys with me But despite what you’ve been told I once had a soul Left somewhere behind A former friend of mine And I hate to sound so true But I mean nothing to you So with the streetlights they shine bright I’ll be home tonight |

Yeah the 3rd verse is about drugs based on other songs its most likely cocaine. But I keep going out (to get more) I can't sleep next to a stranger when I'm coming down (coke keeps you up all night) It's 8 a.m., my heart is beating too loud (up all night heart races) Too loud Don't be so amazing or I'll miss you too much (coke makes you fell really good, leave it he'll miss it) I felt something that I had never touched Everything gets smaller now the further that I go (His stash) |

The song is about a near overdose on cocaine. Conor has fought with addiction for a while, there are numerous references in past songs, as is this song. When you overdoes you heart races, you panic, you breath heavy, and pretty much feel like your going to die. Here are a few coke references from various songs. "So we can talk in circles around a dirty mirror Night trickles down our throats" -Well Whiskey "And your parents noticied your thinning face All the weight you lost All the weight you are losing" - A line allows progress, a circle does not (title itself is a reference) "Because we paint the foil with the flame Smear the soda, taste butane" - Down a rabbit hole "And all those white lines that sped us up" -Gold Mine Gutted "Stab the ice with a straw" -hit the switch "You said they laid out lots of coke But you don't know how much you did" -I'll be your friend "You're looking skinny like a model With your eyes all painted black Keep going to the bathroom Always say you'll be right back Well, it takes one to know one, kid I think you've got it bad But what's so easy in the evening By the morning's such a drag" -Lua "I wish I saved up for rainy days Because they're the hardest to be dry I got no self control I'm always begging into telephones I bought a little from my brother's friend Well, just to get me by I don't trust his cut The effect is never as high as the mark-up" - Spent on rainy days "I get cocaine from this girl I met" - The Joy in Forgetting... "she always wants to know where her money goes but will shell it out for filling up her nose" - Desaparecidos - Hole in one "Coca-cola dripping down my throat" - Not sure which song "And a season to sleep And a place to get clean" "Full of fever dreams that scare me sober Into saltless dinners" - Cleanse song also I'm wide awake it's morning Some of these might no seem clear to people who have never used cocaine, but if you have you understand everyone of them |
