| Regina Spektor – Ode to Divorce Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i think the whole thing is sort of sarcastic, especially the title "ode to divorce" when people go through traumatic events such as divorce, they sometimes have a bitter, sarcastic, and unemotional attitude because they are hurt and don't really know how else to respond; they are in a state of shock and depression. I don't think the song is actually about regina herself, so the "narrator" or "main character" has this outlook. I need your money, it’ll help me I need your car and I need your love this is sort of poking fun at the fact that people argue over these petty things during a divorce, and make a case for themselves as if winning the car will help them and getting the other's money will cure their heartache and make up for their emotional problems, however this is obviously not true and thats why regina sings it in that fashion. regina is truly amazing, and such a master of tones and points of view, its incredibe |

how could no one have commented on this song! its so beautiful, typical young love that makes it seem like nothing else even exists or matters. It also has an air of apprehension, like they know that this will all end soon when they mature and grow up. "And we are so naive to think we believe this is right" Straight memories of being young drunk and stupid, but how perfect and beautiful that can be "You're OK You've got your head screwed on right We are holding hands to meet the band tonight" amazing. |

| The Honorary Title – Lust Dumpster Lyrics | 18 years ago |

^I disagree a little bit... The girl that he is talking about is in love with him, but he just sees her as a hook-up, she is purely physical to him. He has lust and he wishes it was more so he doesn't have to hurt her, but she has love. There is another girl, possibly an ex-girlfriend or just a fantasy that he is completely in love with, and she is "a television" and "pages in my magazine". Since he cannot have her, he hooks up with this other girl who is completely infatuated with him. He says she was born as a convenience, as in the only purpose she has to him is to give him sexual pleasure and fill some sort of void without emotional attachment on his end. He says she is so much better in wrapped up in fantasy, as in it is better when he is with her but fantasizes about the unattainable other girl. Maybe even further, she agrees to the love-less sex because she is so taken with him that she thinks anything is better than nothing at all. Still, she might know that she is only a sex object, and wishes that she was better and thinks "if only he liked me more, maybe i can make him love me" etc I think the title says it all: lust dumpster. The girl that is love with him is just a receptacle for his sexual energy. He loads his lust on to her, but it is misplaced at her expense. Amazing song by an amazing band! |
