Although I DO agree and understand that bands will change their music and style throughout their artistic careers, I also think that bands inevitably develop a certain vein of music that they become known for. For LP, it was the nu-metal/rock sound. Although you say that you appreciate LP's change because you are also changing in a similar way, other people are not. |

Not a fan of the LP/Jay-Z collaboration, but this one is my favorite. It sounds good with the bass WAY up, although the meaning is not there anymore. Jay-Z is a punk. |

I didn't really care for the song, but it makes a little more sense after reading the comments and seeing the connection to Katrina. It's still not one of my favorites, but it's nice how LP made such a multi-faceted song. |

I love all the songs on Meteora, but the melody of "Numb" stood out to me from the beginning. It's amazing to me how LP created so many feelings in one song, from frustrated hopelessness ("feeling so faithless/lost under the surface") to anger ("all I want to do/is be more like me/and less like you") to COMPASSION ("But I know/you were just like me/with someone disappointed in you"). When I listen to this song, I have my own music video in my head! |

I fucking LOVE Chester's voice!! The first verse is the best, when there are less instrumentals and his voice really soars. I think he's one of the best singers of this generation, and definitely of this genre.
To me, this song symbolizes new beginnings. Even though it's hard, sometimes the best thing to do is move on and put your old life (and friends) behind. Although they are your true friends, they may not be the best influence in your life and will end up involuntarily dragging you down. |

Every time I hear this song I think of my good friend. Everyone (including his current gf) knows that he's still in love with his ex, and will probably never stop loving her. It's a tough situation, and it sucks that you can't choose who you love, and when to stop loving them. |

To me, it sounds like the singer knows this girl really well, maybe childhood friends or sweethearts. And in those years that he knew her, the girl became more withdrawn and less confident because people in her life hurt her and dragged her down. Maybe this is the first time in a while that they've spoken, and he is urging her to remember her dreams, remember how she used to be, and tells her that coming out into the light won't blind her, but rather bring her closer to her dreams. I really like the line, "Have you forgotten how we used to dream." |

I think this song is about someone messing up his relationship with the perfect girl because he can't let go of the past. When he says "I'm always wrapped up in things I cannot win," it sounds like he's talking about past memories, which you can't fight or change.

It always seems to get to me"
Even though he tried to keep his past hidden, sometimes the anger that he still feels manifests itself in indirect behavior toward his current girlfriend, such as being cold or selfish. And the singer realizes all of this, but is unable to change himself. |

My boyfriend was shot and killed a few years ago, and every time I hear this song I think of him. To me, this song represents the first stage in the grieving process, when you are in denial and pain, when you refuse to move on. The entire song is about regret, what the singer wishes he had done or said to his love. Eventually you learn to move on, but sometimes the unfairness of it all comes back and songs like these can express what you feel but cannot say. |
