To me, this song is about her mother. It talks about how one can just come home to their mother and enjoy the time together; how the simple things like taking the dog for a walk and beans on toast are so meaningful from a mum.

I think this song is one of Elton John's most direct songs. No hidden meaning, just the story of a slave who is getting fed-up with his situation. I've always thought that the story in these lyrics and the one in 'Burn Down the Mission' are quite similar. |

This song is about a man (or woman) thinking of the child he would like to have. He promises the child that he or she will be a blessed being in his eyes. Such a beautiful parent to child song. I once spoke with someone who said that he thought this song was about a someone talking about the lover they would like to have. Personally, I don't feel that that idea quite fits. |

I genuinely like this song. It has meaningful lyrics and a great glam-rock tune. In my opinion, the lyrics explain how one can travel the world over and visit some of the most amazing places, but, ultimately, home is the place we love the most. Great song and an amazing band! |
