this song reminds me a lot of my current situation. i'm not officially 'dating' this boy, but we have sleepovers at least once a week and sure act like were dating. we're obviously allowed to do whatever we want with other people since we're not 'together', but we don't cause we both know we like each other...and are just being careful about putting a label on it. |

| my favorite line of this song is "I know better than to include the both of us". that part hits home the hardest for me. i could be way off from what she meant, but to me it's about this guy who doesn't necessarily want to be labeled 'together' with her. he may have feelings for her, but he's just one of those guys who isn't really the serious relationship type. so when she says 'i know better than to include the both of us' she realizes that there isn't really an 'US' with them...he doesn't take this whole thing as seriously as she does. and i know we can all relate to that. | |

I absolutely LOVE this song. My favorite part of the song is: "Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around So I learnt from you I can be alone, yeah I can watch a sunset on my own" She's basically saying he made her really happy but he didn't wanna be with her, so she wasn't gonna let that keep her down. The next part I have two takes on? "So I learnt from you" Grasping from personal experience I would say then she learned to do the same thing to others and so she doesn't mind being alone. OR on a more positive note...she learned to be happy regardless and that being alone can be okay. I don't know. Regardless, I completely adore this song. |

| For me...this song can be related to the way I see my dad. He changed in what seemed like one day...to someone who no longer really cared about anything. And this song is saying, even though he is separating himself from everything, he still realizes that at one point he was happy and important to someone... and is struggling to once again be "real". | |

| This is such an incredible song. It's one of those songs where you just close your eyes and take it in...and even if you're not the type of person to ever be in a similar situation...you understand and you feel it. You breathe his desperation and can feel how crazy this is driving him. Asking all these questions about their other lover and if they make them feel the same as he does. He doesn't want to settle for anything less than the love he feels for them, but they're not sure they feel the same. I love how the song ends with him almost whispering "For we are in love"...because in that alone you can hear his plea and need to be this person. I also love this song because never once does it cross my mind that it's terrible that they're both cheating on their others. But instead I focus on what a beautiful thing they could have. | |

I'm sure this has been said multiple times... But to me this songs about a guy who really is just okay with being around this girl and kissing her and such, but having nothing else really attached. While, on the other hand, she becomes both physically and emotionally attached and wants him to either feel the same way or stop being around...To really, either be emotionally involved or completely detach themselves from her because she so deeply cares for him and just being around him is almost torture. Then the whole "what I am to you is not real" part goes for both sides. In the guys perspective he's saying, "hey, we both know what I'm here for and it's not my fault you're ignoring the fact that I don't want to be emotionally attached. That's not who I am...or what I'm here for...and we're not in this for the same reasons." While she's basically saying, "You could have any other girl to satisfy your needs because I'm just filling some meaningless void. You mean so much to me while I am merely here for your amusement...to be used, if you will." It's a beautiful song that can be easily related to whether it's on a small or rather large scale. |
