Although he says in the song that he knows he will be back in her arms tonight, the tone of the rest of the song sounds more sad. Like he isnt really sure that he will be.

Although I have been a fan of journey for what seems like forever, this song in particular has a renewed and special meaning to me. I dedicated it to someone, and I completely think it is about not giving up on finding love.

I really cant believe no one has commented on this song. To me, it sounds like someone who is dealing with a hot/cold relationship. He isnt sure if he really wants it to be over so that he can play the field, or if he just really wants her to tell him she wants a relationship with him. |

I can understand why you might interperet this song that way, but I personally think it is about two people who are making love, but must part. I think that the "day breaking" is metaphoric for the end of thier union. He knows that this will leave him with "another little hole in my heart". Just my opinion. |

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard. To me, he is trying to convince someone (maybe himself) to count on themselves for happiness. Regardless, the way he sings this with his emotive voice is so plaintive. |
