i first heard the tori amos version on imeem.com, then i heard another version posted on youtube (not live, recorder) without the sampling. so i think MyOwnBlood is right. also the mixed version is stated to be about 3:45 long, whereas the one included in the track listing on wikipedia is about 3:27. so the tori amos sampling definatly wasn't in the original mix. |

1 more thing... i did some digging around and it seems the term tannhauser gate is quite popular in sci-fi culture. especially in blade runner when one of the characters talks about "seeing c-beams glitter in the dark near tannhauser gate". so now i'm starting to assume this song could be about interstellar travel through space or something. |

not sure about the meaning but it did remind me of a line in the movie "300" when artemis goes "blooddrunk" and viciously attacks a group of persians warriors after his son is killed in battle. |

okay, this is is what this song means to me. basically it's about a guy who really likes this girl but is reluctant to ask her out. then during a point when she's vulnerable (whether a break up or family problems) he goes for it. but she pushes him away and becomes angry because she feels he's taken advantage of her situation. but he doesn't understand and thought that in the longrun she'd welcome him with open arms., but puts him down instead. "stop putting me, cause i won't ever understand". inevitably they make up, but still thinks to himself if he could go back, he'd wait longer to ask her out rather than step in at that particular point. |

To me this song is describing the journey that superheroes
go through. All heroes start out as nerds or losers (spider or daredevil) but when they get their powers it doesn't just make them powerful, it changes their personality. They become more confident and this incredible feeling comes over them, making believe that not only can they do things noone else can, they can do something incredible (like saving people from harm and defeating evil) when he says, 'i need you to trust who i'm gonna be', he's saying, 'i'm gonna go do something amazing, but i need you to believe in me to make me go on and do it'. Totally amazing song, i love it. |

This song fucking kicks ass! I've listened to it like 3 times a day for the past 3 months and it still gets me excited when the guitar starts by itself then everyone just rocks it out. Mick Thompson and James Root are badass! Like a lot of the other posts here, to me this song is just remembering your identity no matter what. I'm an a super loser at school and get given bullshit all the time. One of my mates started hanging out with the 'crowd' and tried to get me to change my style and hobbies to hang with em. But then i'd be a self-obsessed prick who discriminates people who like being different, and that's not me. I've been the loser all my life but that defines the really kick-ass friends i have to and i aint gonna abandon them or my likes and dislikes just to be popular. I'm stapled shut inside an outside world and sealed it tight. It's bizarre but i feel right at home, I'll remember who i am before i forget.

Man, this song is great! The lyrics, guitar and backing instruments (violins, flutes,e.g.) The lyrics state the obvious meaning to the song. It's about someone who loved someone very deeply but something happened to break them up, and now that person hates the one they once considered the love of their life. The videos explains pretty clearly (there's two, one when Keith Caputo is sent to kill Sharon, and the second when Sharon leaves an abusive partner) Anyway, great song. |
