okay this is getting annoying, anyway.. this site isn't about telling someone else what the song is definately about. because guess what unless you are actually the person who wrote the song you have no real way of knowing. this site is about sharing what the music means to YOU. so people are going to have different opinions. sure flyleaf is a christan band, but like many have sad doesn't mean that all of their songs are about god. granted there music is a refelection of their faith, but really when you are relgious everything is. i can totally see how the song could be interperated as being about god and the loving relationship that she has with him. for me this song is more about a being in love (the can't eat, can't sleep, world series kinda stuff)with a person than about god,but like i said before it's what the song means to YOU not what everyone else thinks. |

to me the meaning of the song is right there, "it's hard to be the better man, when you forget you're trying". there is no such thing as bad people, everyone has a light and dark side, its the parts we choose to act on that make us who we are. it's about that struggle to be that person, despite everything. i always saw this as sort of your bad guy who's secretly the good guy. the person who is always told he's a screw up but really has the best intentions. who's just looking to prove that he is the good guy "i'd drown all these crying babies if i knew that their mothers wouldn't cry i'd hold them down and i'd squeeze real soft to let a piece of myself die" looking for a reason to feel as bad as they feel. |

this song honestly makes me cry. it reminds me of someone i love. we were one of those couples that no one was rutting for, i was a good little girl and he was the older wilder guy. and i was stupid and listened to the world, so we didnt stay together. the call to arms was never true i'm medicated how are you? lets take a dive swim right through sophisicated points of view its like that was what he was saying to me, and now i'm the medicated one, and wondering how he is. i should have dove threw those silly points of view. i miss him and everytime i listen to this song i think about the life we could have had together... |

| i totally agree with PPbarker. its about knowing and finally excepting that the person you are in love with is no longer in love with you. for whatever their reasons maybe. i think that is most evident in the first lines of the song (what if you could wish me away,what if you spoke those words today,i wonder if you'd miss me when i'm gone, it's come to this, release me) wanting to stay but accepting that it's not going to work. it's tragic and beautiful. without a doubt my favorite song on the album. | |
