So, I'm curious, has anyone watched the video to this song? In several cut scenes the guys are shown all dressed in Tuxedos, in what seems to be several different location around Las Vegas, NV. I was wondering if these scenes had any relation to Mike D's line: I'm a newlywed, not a divorcee, And everything I do is funky like Lee Dorsey Did one of them get married around the time this song came out? Like I said, ...just curious. |

are you people serious? the lyrics say 'catch without arms', and yes, that is the Record Title also, but that isn't the whole line. nor should you try to decipher like that. the line in the chorus goes: "That's what happens when you play catch without arms" what do you think happens when you try to play catch, without arms? |

i feel like it is similar, but almost, opposite of what MaskOfSanity has mentioned. it seems to me to be about an awakening in thought. he is noticing how everyone is pointing at someone else. he notes how the west and east are pointing at each other saying the other is wrong. he is saying now he 'knows',(like in a lot of james songs,) he can see the answer to their problems, as an outsiders perspective may be clearer. i believe the whole point of the song lays in the second chorus, when he says: "I opened up into this mystery Every key can lock you up Or set you free I believe that there is magic in this mystery" it seems to scream, "balance." (i.m.o.o.) but i love the song whatever the song meaning may be. long live James. |

i have always thought of a killer/psychopath-esque character speaking to his prey in this song. he wanted to have a relationship and she wouldn't 'fall in love' with him, so he is saying just say goodbye, as he is burying her. "oh my baby, don't cry. just say goodbye. oh now baby, don't cry oh my babe, at least we tried at least we tried to make it in these days i am so confused oh my love, at least we had it let me hold on to you" he thinks to himself: i will remember how you stood there, and you smiled, and you smile there with me. i know pretty gruesome, don't ask where that came from. |
