| Wltrix, I think you're right. After hearing the latest album (which is awesome, by the way), I'm pretty sure Sharon is Christian. So the 'almost hope you're in heaven, so no one can hurt your soul' blew my theory out of the water. What a great song. | |

Rather than dealing with someone missing in real life, I think this song has to do with the afterlife. It's tearing her apart wondering where a certain loved one is, and she's hoping for a sign that he/she is still around in spirit. I don't believe the Netherlands is a very religious place, and I'm not sure of the lyricist's religion. The line "Almost hope you're in heaven so no one can hurt your soul" makes me think that she doesn't believe in a 'literal' heaven, but almost hopes it's true just so she knows that her deceased loved one is ok. The line at the end "Whatever it takes, I need to know" makes me think that that she's on the verge of killing herself just to find out where this person's soul is. |
