Hurt – Falls Apart Lyrics 18 years ago
I probably agree most with xero854, mostly because the simple relationship seems, just a simlpe common example that most anyone can relatate, but what make the song so much better than anything emo/numetal is the deeper meaning such as some much more significan't happening, that has caused him to fall apart, mostlikly also breaking several relationships, with a girl, a best friend, or even his God.
Breaking a relations ship with one's creator is a heavely theme i see through many of Hurt's songs and and makes alot of sense of the back story of J. Loren Wince the lead singer/songwrite, who besides going to college at 14, was brought up in a conservative christian family, a house that rock and roll was banned, to go from that to what he is now implies at least to me that he had some major issues with his religion, this i hevealy relate to, and also the sheer depth of their music, and use of words, ie "correct" instead of cracked and may numorus mythical/historical/diffrent langueage word play is a huge indicater of the deep meaing and thought put in that this is in. This music is so infantly better that your standard corperate messed fucked up pop/rock/rap bull thats just trying to take your money.

Hurt – Danse Russe Lyrics 18 years ago
BTW Kismet is Turkish for Fate, the line it is in is a huge reason why i love this band. I'm still pondering the meaning, What i can come up with is it is definatly about sex, possibly a short period with someone he really loves but for what every reason they can't be together for more then a short time, Possibly this woman is very independent and with no family (ala using the danse russe reffrence the more morbid one, and also how its about a man being a man ie she is a woman being a woman) he deffintly thinks very highly of her, and based on the his comment he met a very independent woman and had an amazing 2 day relationship with her.

Hurt – Rapture Lyrics 18 years ago
to expand on "Futures63" i feel the rapture refrence expands to comment how alot of religion has fallen out of roots, and now deals with blind faith, how lines of morality have been blurred. and is a comment that any religion that says something that is so intuitively so immoral (the example here being killing a child) and beging a woman to find in him "room to breath" such as room to question, and not follow blindly, and do the right thing

such as her religon tells her that their love is wrong (ex i'm pritty sure in islam it is a mortal sin to marry a no muslim) That the child of that relationship is evil (the suposed anti-christ) and thus she must kill it. The man is saying any religion that says love is wrong, is false, and would do that to a child is wrong and even if they burned in hell she would still have done the right thing and thus still have him. The head of her religion has set itself up as god claiming to be the word of god, though the true word of God would never say something so inhatently elive. Witht he woman's orginal faith winning out, and she murders the child, and thus killing their relationship and his will to live (ala the looked like me). Thus showing the dangers of men seting themselves up as god and claiming to bring the word of God, be such that is the Anti-christ

Hurt – Overdose Lyrics 18 years ago
Now i completely agree, with the idea before, but personally i feel the meaning being expanded from just a girl, to a man's God. Mostly comeing from many of other of Hurts songs which seem to be both talking about a man's girl and a man's God. I think the narrator is going through some major type of depression/bi-polar and and feels he can never acheive happies and"needing that thing we call fun" he escapes his pain and rejects his Gog for the god Morphious (drugs) and his wonderful dream that has made him feel better in the past, but now he is addicceted and built up a resistance, which drives him to overdose.
My main idea is that it has to be dealing with an unexpected revelation of a seemingly inpersonal and non-responsive God, and now he blames him. He begins to reject all the notients of a benevolent God, and ask for "one reason to think that [God is] decent"
