New Young Pony Club – Ice Cream Lyrics

It's actually not "girl power like" at all. Quite the opposite. I agree with Montauk. It's a depiction of how women are perceived in the media. It takes the main sexual stereotypes of how women are supposed to be, according to the mainstream, and runs away with them.
Because women are more than just something sexual. More than just beauty. Yeah, that's great that the mainstream recognizes that. But women are more than sex. That's the irony of the song. |

José González – Down the Hillside Lyrics

Some of these lyrics are wrong.
Such as "If you follow the voice" instead of "void"
There are other ones, I'm pretty sure. The first line, particularly. |

José González – Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division cover) Lyrics

I'm not sure just how relevant your comment was to the song, coldownie; but I really enjoyed it.
Keep fighting! Love will pull you through. And if it doesn't do the trick anymore, eat more chocolate. It'll give you the same general feeling. :) |

José González – Stay in the Shade Lyrics

It's not about something as specific or insignificant as a breakup. It is about life in general. How we see it. How we react to it.
How we live it.
Don't let yourself fade. Live life. Take risks. Take advantage of the sunlight that we are given before it disappears. |

This is honestly one of my favorite songs by Mirah. The influx of the percussion at the chorus is beautiful. |

Oh, this is amazing. Her voice, the composition, the lyrics. Love is beautiful and strange and scary. Completely compelling and irresistible; just like this song. |

Kate Havnevik – So:Lo Lyrics

Oh, this song saddens me. She seems to be talking to a significant other who has left her, and she looks all around her and everyone seems to be in love except for her; and she doesn't want any other love except for his.
"This freedom is wasted on me" implies that she doesn't care for the freedom and options the single life offers.
There's more I could say, but my sister is calling. It's a beautiful song. As are all of her songs. |

Kate Havnevik – Nowhere Warm Lyrics

Maybe the person the narrator is talking about hasn't left, but is coming back. "I'm sure you're on your way" seems to suggest that she is speaking about him coming back to her. On her way to her, if you will.
And she keeps on saying "Until," suggesting that she will see him again. Soon. |

Wow. It's that new love feeling; when you meet someone and they show you the world through completely different eyes. They show you the world exactly as it should be. Perfect. |

Elisa – The waves Lyrics

This song is classic, not only in the way that it is composed, but also when concerning what it stands for. The narrator is looking for something else; she thinks she may be able to find something else if she sees the world, whatever it may be. But at the end of the day, after all is said and done, she comes back to him, because he is the only one she wants. |

Say Anything – Admit It!!! Lyrics

This song can be generally taken as a pissed off rant to the whole hypocritical and materialistic world that so many people get sucked in to. It's a proverbial middle finger to all of the hypocrites who get sucked into everything they claim to be against, whether it be a gluttonous lifestyle, trying to hard to fit in with people one swears to hate, capitalist corporate america, etc, etc. But no matter what it is, it's the most articulate and honest piece of work I have heard in a long time, and almost three years after listening to it for the first time, it's still my favorite song. |

Kate Havnevik – I Don't Know You Lyrics
|
First off, this is one of my favorite songs by Kate. It's just so incredibly haunting.
Second, to me, it seems that she is writing/singing of a boy that she sees, and often. But she doesn't know him how she would like to; she's asking him permission to get to know him. We've all done it before, where we like someone so much from afar, but don't have the courage to say anything to the person's face. |
