Oh, I lvoe this song. It makes me cry and cry and cry. It's about the AIDS crisis, I think...being sick, or being afraid of being sick, and trying to play on borrowed time, outrun destiny. |

It's funny -- I just realised -- the last relationship I was in, the guy asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentines Day and we broke up on April Fools'. (Not that that has anything to do with the song's meaning, per se...but it resonates with me because of it.) As far as song meaning, I think it's about relationships being built up in your head as some wonderful vital thing, and then once the glamour of it wears off, there's nothing to hold the people together. |

Friends and I tried to come up with the meaning of this song, and we narrowed it down to three choices: 1) Joining a cult 2) Doing drugs 3) Falling in love with an older man |

I love this song. It's about being so depressed, but too apathetic to do anything about it. Perfect. |

| Barenaked Ladies – I'll Be That Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I always thought it was about...loving someone who doesn't love themselves very much. He loves her so much, but she thinks she herself is worthless, and he's saying "Look, if I were you, then you'd see me like I see you." Or something like that. :) | |
| Barenaked Ladies – Light Up My Room Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Late at night when the wires in the walls Sing in tune with the din of the falls I'm conducting it all while I sleep To light this whole town I don't know if he's speaking about Niagara Falls, but it certainly seems like it. I love this song, and it makes me homesick for the falls. :) |
