the last line is definitely: "love is love's critique" I'm working on deciphering the rest, what a difficult song to figure out! But, hauntingly beautiful. |

| Head in my hand carries a lot more weight - the idea of having someone's head in your hand involves protecting and comforting her; people have each other's hands in many others every day (even for handshakes), but almost never their heads in others' hands. He's singing about a true, deep love, one that involved the most intimate of exchanges; far beyond any kind of hand-hold. | |

| mjohnson10, well said. I particularly like your comment that "we’re each other’s heroes." I would like to add one little thing, about the broken window pane part--she becomes sick, and he's there watching her, and all he thinks about is how he wants to make her better. His remedy is so simple that we could call it overly-simplistic and even naive, or we could read it as a comment on the complexity of relationships...He seems to think that "it'll all be right as rain" when (a) the one he loves is happy and (b) he is with the one he loves. Relationships with others seems to be the ideal love and driving force in our life, then, for which he strives, but unfortunately does not have here. | |

I've never really been able to figure out these lines: I got a sword to stem the rivers And cut the moon in half What do you think he's referring to here? |
