i just LOVE the line "the passion that sparked me one terrible night and shocked and persuaded my soul to ignite"
very powerful.
i could be wrong, but i think it might be about the death of a friend. it might not supposed to be literal, but he "struggled with destiny" after the guy slipped off the edge. after that, it "strengthened his will to appease", whereas before he disappointed and betrayed the angel-like figure. i think the death changed him? could be wrong. |

i agree with sampintoknowsitall, i don't think it's about a relationship i'm pretty sure it's about a girl close to him unexpectedly dying. it does point to suicide because she "haunts" him and he feels responsible as a lot of people would if their friend killed themselves, but i'm not sure if that's right.
amazing song, tho. dave's songs are chilling. |

i agree with everyone's interpretation. "the whole charade was bittersweet, cuz as i was beneath the sheets i was hoping you would call me just so i could hear your voice". he definitely cheated on her out of loneliness.

I'm surprised no one has commented this song. I mean, it doesn't make much sense and I don't think it's supposed to, but its just supposed to be a lullabye. Love the random reference to James Earl Jones. It puts me to sleep, in a good way. |
