At the Drive-In – Cosmonaut Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, if you saw their video live at Big Day Out 01 for this song, they mention the media before they start playing, so it makes a lot more sense to be about censorship than planes.

Epic. Fucking. Song.

After listening to it and reading it, it seems to be about someone who gives up completely on social interaction, and takes up a completely nihilistic point of view.

A Perfect Circle – Gravity Lyrics 18 years ago
Seems to be about a relapse.

Mr. Graves.. the whole album concerns drugs.

And for the one who said "what about the fame in decadence line"... could just be saying that the addict is making himself look like the posterboy for moral decay. (Fame doesn't always mean that you are famous...)

I don't agree with it being about someone committing suicide.. since that wouldn't really fit the theme of the album. I think this is the addict from the album's friend/relative or whatever telling him that's if he's going to keep using drugs that he should fuck off and stop making excuses, basically.

The Mars Volta – El Ciervo Vulnerado Lyrics 18 years ago
OK, though they said the album was not a connected story, the CD basically seems to be mostly about religion, so it would make sense for this song to be about Jesus considering the name mentions Wounded Shepherd.

The Mars Volta – El Ciervo Vulnerado Lyrics 18 years ago
It makes perfect sense to be a wounded shepherd and not a pastor.

"I've been drinking black myrrh again
The closer we pour
I needed to touch your lip
With a nail in my arm
The night that you cut me
Our coven did walk
I fell at your mercy
I fell in your grave
Mecca amputechture
It stands in my way
The longer I stay
An elderly child
The longer the myrrh gives birth
To the death that I've found"

All seem to be references to Jesus, which go along with the song name, especially the nail in my arm line, "the night you cut me", and the myrrh references.

In other verses some things I consider Jesus references :

"
If your kingdom won't come"
"If you consume me" (possibly communion?)

I cant tie it all together, however I'm guessing someone can.
