This is a great song on Guster's new Satellite EP. I suppose it's an alternate version of the song "C'mon", which ended up on the latest album. Maybe it's because of my own recent experience, but I think this song is about someone who is beginning a new phase of life ("i'm on a great divide...i'll never be the same") after going through a breakup ("i blew it all away, then i was alone"). The speaker is hopeful that they'll find companionship again, though ("then i was alone, but it won't be long"). Perhaps s/he is leaving a relationship with someone who was too controlling ("tell all my friends i'm seeing them again"). This song actually reminds me a lot of Ben Folds' "Landed", which I believe tells a similar story. |
