Tori Amos – Body and Soul Lyrics 18 years ago
A couple of things I get from this:
- "Seven Devils" seven deadly sins reference
- "Ecstasy pure as a womans gold" perhaps in reference to loverless priests and ecstacy referring to sex.

For a left of centre view - the lyrics could be in reference to recreational drug taking. 60's style - non violent, mind broadening and embracing diversity rather than condemning it.

Tori Amos – Girl Disappearing Lyrics 18 years ago
That's a very interesting interpretation Vettie-edder.. and I like your take on the constellation being "Star signs". I actually thought this was a song about Anorexia - "7 am So it beings again 1-0 (zip) favoring familiar silhouettes" which says that for anorexics.. the disease is constant and real to them, from the second they wake their weight is first thing on their mind and that is their dress size 1-0 being ideal. No protection from Urban light and envy spreading itself thin I think relates to the media and how women are portrayed and the emphasis placed on being thin - the play on words "envy can spread herself so thinly" and the final reference is the "girl disappearing" i.e. losing weight to "Some secret prison" which is a standard reference used for anorexia sufferers that their body becomes a prison.

On a completely random tangent - it could also be seen as being relevant to transgender and/or gender reasignment. A little left of centre - but you can see some relevance there.

Tori Amos – Teenage Hustling Lyrics 18 years ago
My thoughts are this is Pip singing to another girl, probably much younger, who is trying to move in on her territory (probably involving a man) and using poor manipulation tricks to try and discredit Pip. Pip warning her that she's on to her and she can't pull the wool over her eyes. "You gotta right to know" is her telling her out of courtesy and some respect that her attempts are useless because Pip knows every trick in the book because she too was once this girl. She also hints to a certain respect for the 'other' girl by saying "Now I don't mind a dirty girl". I think that Pip is saying - I know what you're up to and you're not gonna get away with it but it doesn't mean I don't respect your position because I understand, I was there once just like you. Just don't f*ck with me. "I'm at your door"

Tori Amos – Dragon Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree BrokenNailz, I think though that perhaps there is an emphasis on her being there for him and being the solution to the problem only IF he slays his dragon - and I also get the sense that it needs to be an impressive display for her to then be that person. I think she reflects on the days of the dragon slayers chivalrous acts and that he needs to do this for her and then he (in their relationship) will be fine

Tori Amos – Smokey Joe Lyrics 18 years ago
Firstly, there's a discrepancy with the Lyrics written above. The opening 2 lines should read:
'Smokey Joe you're calling at the station,
If I kill him there are complications'
I agree with you starpatroller - and I think that's exactly what the lyrics are about - and I think that the "Smokey Joe is calling at the station" is representative of him dobbing himself in to the police - he's going to the police station. Clyde's rage overtakes her and she speaks her truth, however, she says "It's too easy to wish you harm" she knows there is no justice in hurting him herself - so she threatens him and forces him to turn himself in for his atrocities.
