| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 18 years ago |

For me, from a personal view, this is about a guy who didn't treat a girl very well who was possibly extremely in love with him. Possibly a guy who's been indenial of his true feelings. Eventually, he has lost the girl but insists that he is fine. "Coming out of my cages and I've been doing just fine." - Sort of saying 'I'm doing fine without you' but really, this guy has realised what he's lost. "It started out with a kiss. How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss" - this guy never expected to get so involved. It was just a kiss, or at least that's what he thought it would be but he's ended up being emotionally attached to this girl. "But she's touching his chest now, he takes off her dress now, let me go" - he was destroyed by the idea of this girl having somebody else, hence the line 'it's all my head now'. He's never seen her with someone but just the image of it is killing him. This links strongly in with the emphasis on a smothering death in the chorus. "Choking on your alibi" - the guy still feels a sense of property to the girl but knows that she's not actually his. "I just can't look it's killing me". It's a very sad song, a reminder to me of an ex who says this song reminds him of me. It's probably my favourite song of all time. |

| Rihanna – A Million Miles Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song makes me think of my ex. "It feels like you're a million miles away..." When I sing it, I sing it to the person he was who he's not anymore and basically says that the person he was isn't here anymore. |

This song means so much to me. It makes me cry everytime I think about it. It's personal for me because I had an ex-boyfriend who I was incredibly in love with who put me through hell. He is a high profile sportsman so I found some of the lyrics were very close to the knuckle... "You're standing in moonlight, But you're black on the inside," Sorting of saying even though he had a lot of status and he was in the spotlight but inside he was nothing. "And you wrote the book On how to be a liar and loose all your friends. Did I mean nothing at all? Was I just another ghost that's been in your bed?" I love these lines. It's everything I wanted to say to my ex because his fame made him change and he lost a lot of friends and he was always lying. It's very personal but absolutely beautiful. |
