| Shinedown – Sound of Madness Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song is about how our society has become overly diagnosed with depression. In 2005 10 percent of Americans were on anti-depressants. The song is telling those people that instead of trying to be depressed, taking medication (the line "you can sleep with a gun" refers to taking antidepressants) , and having that be their identity, they should take steps to change their lives. |

| Nerf Herder – Hotel California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
They're making fun of the original Eagles song. The Eagles version of Hotel California was a metaphor for rich people and how they get caught up in a luxurious lifestyle and apparently being rich is a difficult thing and we should feel sorry for rich people. This is Nerf Herders answer to that message of the Eagles song. They're responding to that song in a way. Saying that being rich is a ridiculous thing to try and get sympathy for. They contrast the Eagles message of rich people having it hard to an example of real hardship - being poor and having to work a menial job to survive like a lot of people have to do. |

| Lagwagon – The Chemist (Acoustic) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

These lyrics are wrong. I believe it's "the sound is atrocious, the mouths horrific". I think refering to the sound of the gunshot being atrocious. The song is about Derrick Plourde and how doing drugs made him depressed "elements in the pool were all dried up" meaning how some drugs cause a release of neurotransmitters like serotonin then the person becomes depressed later because that neurotransmitter is all used up. "You're not telling anyone" of course saying that he never told anyone about how bad his problems were and "hollow quiet I feel sick" how he felt when he heard Derrick took his own life. |

| The Birthday Massacre – Holiday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is for the most part self-explanatory. It's about feeling sorrowful, sad, believing the best times in your life are past, and wanting to sleep all the time to escape the feelings of sadness. | |
| The Birthday Massacre – Horror Show Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The first thing to understand about The Birthday Massacre is that they're a very imaginative band. As most of us know their original name was "Imagica" before they had to change it due to copyright issues. That being said some of their songs might not have definitive meanings but instread be abstract poetry meant only to evoke a certain fantastical, dreamlike scene. (Think of the blue music video) The lyrics to Horror Show are vague so I can only decipher a basic outline of meaning. It seems to be an egotistical, self-glorifying song where they (the band) are looking back on all the people who were popular in highschool, people they used to think were cool and want to befriend or go out with and were basically intimidated by and now they see themselves as the superior ones and are basically saying "look at those people now, they all have such ugly, mundane lives compared to us. Why did we ever think those people were cool or even give them the time of day?" etc. I don't know if that's the meaning for certain or if it's what the whole song is about, but I definitely sense there's a message like that in some of the parts. |

| The Birthday Massacre – Happy Birthday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I don't know why so many people assume it's the narrator's own birthday party they're killing people at. It's more logical to assume it's someone elses party. Why would you kill your own friends? Often one's enemies are all friends with each other. According to her blog Chibi was made fun of in highschool by a group of girls, so she may have fantasized about killing them all at a party, since, if you were going to on a reckless killing spree of your enemies you would want to get them in a place where they were all gathered together. If you tried to do it one by one you'd get arrested after the first murder. That's how the party idea got incorporated into her revenge fantasy. |
