| Very true, but the scarlet letter (not necessarily the book) was a form of punishment in puritan society, which I'm not sure that they had it in Europe, but it's possible, maybe...Also this really doesn't tell the whole story of Romeo and Juliet...I personally find their deaths an important part of the play. | |

It does have a meaning. Scarlet letter means something that's not allowed, looked down upon by society, something to stay away from. Yes, she could have picked a better story to follow, but I still think it turned out well, and I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift other than this song, which means it must be pretty good (for me at least). Anyway, it does skip the actual ending of Romeo& Juliet where the "loving" couple dies. Yeah, perfect ending to the perfect couple (note sarcasm). Pretty song, though. |

not completely sure but it seems like what i've heard of this album, it's a lot about revolution, new ideas, enlightenment, etc. this seems most like it's in the enlightenment era when people were coming up with experiments that proved old ideas wrong and also proved religion wrong. it might also have to do with the apocolypse, and then the snow might represent the ice that the people in the ninth ring of hell are stuck in. maybe yes. maybe no. just my ideas on it. |

It's basically about getting away with friends. I don't know why there are only 2 allies. Maybe past members of the band. Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons?? Not 100% on that, but it's a guess. "Blue you sit so pretty West of the one Sparkles light with yellow icing Just a mirror for the sun Just a mirror for the sun Just a mirror for the sun" The chorus is about the ocean. Ocean is blue and reflects the sun. Sparkles with light and the icing is the sun. Also the ocean could be considered to be west of the sun. Depending on what time of day. |

I'm basically going to sum up everything based on what I thought and what I've read: "I am a man Cut from the know Rarely do friends Come and then go" He's a player. Short and simple. "She was a girl Soft but estranged We were the two Our lives rearranged Feeling so good that day A feeling of love that day" To me it seems like he was friends with her, and felt like he loved her after some time. "Twisting and turning Your feelings are burning You’re breaking the girl She meant you no harm" Loves her, but something is wrong and has to be ended. "Think you’re so clever But now you must sever You’re breaking the girl He loves no one else" Player side coming out again. He went too far and has to break up with her. Turns out he didn't love her. "Raised by my dad Girl of the day He was my man That was the way" Re-stating that he's a player. "She was the girl Left alone Feeling the need To make me her home" She loved him and really wanted him. "I don’t know what, when or why The twilight of love had arrived" Doesn't know what happened but he loved her too for some time. I may be wrong, but these are my thoughts. I kept in mind what the quotes from Scar Tissue said, and I filled in the blanks. |
